supervising the gaming room today and i swear this one eleven year old has better emotional regulation skills than most adults. watched him get up, walk it off, then come back and tell his teammate "I'm not mad at you I'm just frustrated". good kid.

fun fact it was originally a compromise as doubly short for elliot and [deadname]! and then it just became my actual name, i only use the long form for this kind of situation. even tho elliot is technically gender neutral.

honestly working with young people will restore your faith in humanity as much as it (or mostly their parents) kills it. highly recommend. also i got to show off my l337 g4m3r skills (overwatch muscle memory to clutch out 3rd place in fortnite duos)

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

program at the P.P. Shirshov Institute in Moscow, a guy named

, who is one of the preeminent
underwater cinematographers in the world. And had been on a

submersible expedition out to Titanic the previous year with the

Russians. And that was organized by a Canadian company that was
22 doing an IMAX film which was released under the title Titanica.

i have a wonderfully funny/frustrating combo of hyperlexic vocabulary and brain fog related aphasia. in one sentence im dropping ten-dollar words, the next im asking someone to hand me the pot's hat, you know, the thing that goes on top? The lid, yes, thank you.

The problem with computer jobs is that it's all in your head. You can't touch or eat the code you write, it's too abstract. You need to find something to make with your hands if you want to stay okay

One thing that’s funny about how we react to stuff like this is how earnest we are. Workers were as likely to think “census? I’m gonna fuck with this guy” then as now. Taking the piss was not invented in the 20th century
