📌 Hello, it's me!
My name is Ella (she/her or they/them). I'm a human who writes, has thoughts, is a disability advocate, and sometimes dabble in the odd evil orb or two. Oh, and i love drawing wizards.
More details and links below!
a light green to blue gradient background with a collage of images and photos and text. An illustration of a wizard with bob-length orange hair and blue starry robes with knee-high bright pink socks lays across the top, next to the dark blue large header text that reads "Hello, it's me". In a pink cloud shape is dark text that reads "Ella T. Holmes. She/her or they/them". A brown sign post sits in the middle of the image, pointing left to "Facts" and right to "follow me".
On the left a green box of dark text lists the following: fiction writer, essayist, thought-haver, disability advocate, artist, shrek fan, s-cargo lover.
To the right, two dark blue boxes of white text read: On most socials @ellatholmes. YouTube and substack "Ella has thoughts".

legend has it that if you send in a message, it will be printed for eternity, and you shall be granted good luck by the wizard's usually evil orb

This image contains text on a two-toned green background. Header text in white reads "Handwritten message submissions wanted". Below that, a ripped piece of paper has brown handwriting that reads "We will survive. Together!".
In the bottom left there is a slightly askew neon green mail sticker with the image of a green gas cloud and a skull. To the right of that is light pink text that reads "Write an empowering and supportive disability justice message, poem, or sentiment. Take a picture & submit to dis-anthology@outlook.com It will be included in a collage inside the upcoming anthology!"
At the very bottom, centred, in bright green text, is the message "if you cannot hand write it.I can do that for you! Simply submit it as a typed message."

I'm so happy to share that I have a story out in @aurealisfsf.bsky.social issue #185 ✨

'Catch and Consume' is fishy, mysterious, and a little weird 🐟
Just the way I like 'em.
A screenshot from Aurealis showing the cover of Issue #185 on the left, and a partial list of published works inside on the right in black text. From top to bottom, they read: 'Birdie' by John Pegios; 'Catch and Consume' by Ella T Holmes; 'Hooked' by Caroline Smith; and Frankenstein in Pop Culture: From 1910 to Now (part 3) by Claire Fitzpatrick.

I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.
A display of copies of Let This Radicalize You on a table in front of a sign that reads: "Let This Radicalize You offers stories, strategy and heart for the kind of collective care and resistance we're building together today. It helps us move from reacting to organizing. Showing how ordinary people protect each other, build power, and keep hope alive. Take a copy. Read it. Stay connected."

I don't think I've introduced you all to Commander Onion, but he's a little freak and I adore him
A picture of a ginger kitten with wide eyes looking playfully into the camera. he is sitting in the basket part of a cat tree, and his arms are around the scratching post part.

a comic style meme in four squares.
Top left: a hand rising out of blue ocean waves, with white text labelling it "This story hates disabled people".
Top right: a second hand enters from the left, labeled with white text that reads "escapist readers".
Bottom left shows the Escapist Reader hand high-fiving the drowning hand, with white text that reads "you should just read to have fun".
The bottom right image shows the original drowning hand falling below the waves.

→ Many disabled and chronically ill writers seem to value action differently; Where other authors/stories might break out into a bombastic, physically demanding scene to create drama and high staked, many of the submissions chose to play with other narratives
ellatholmes.bsky.social
→ Anti-capitalism is a popular politic
→ There was a common thread of recognising that everyone has inherent worth, regardless of ability
→ Many stories had absolutely phenomenal descriptions of physical sensations and experiences, as well as sensory details
ellatholmes.bsky.social
→ Most stories featured collective care and interdependence in different ways
→ Narratives of unbelonging & trying to find belonging seem to be very popular and much-needed
→ A lot of stories were intersectional

The forever workshop emailed this morning with a line about writing stories that will make people say “damn, you wrote that? Also, you ok?”. This is the consistent response I get to most things 😂 Especially this one: www.torchliteraryarts.org/post/friday-... #litmag
Friday Feature: Mon Misir
Mon Misir (she/they) is a queer Black British writer and recovering lawyer based in London, UK. They use their writing to explore facets of their experience as a black woman, with a speculative bent. ...

Disabled people fight for the right to wear masks during an ongoing pandemic and got told to “just stay home”

We get coughed on, laughed at and threatened

Those mask bans passed

But when California tries to prevent ICE from hiding their faces?

It’s “unconstitutional”.

The cruelty is the point
lataco.bsky.social
DHS posted their response on X: “To be clear: We will NOT comply with Gavin Newsom’s unconstitutional mask ban." LAPD has kept quiet, following several L.A. TACO requests for comment.
