So I am not a fed employee, but our office is sort of… tied to the DOJ, and I just got off a call with our fed-overseers and I feel so bad for them, one guy is already doing two people’s worth of jobs (no extra pay!) and idk how he’s gonna fit all that work in from the office without living there.

Yep Christmas 2023 was apparently the last real Christmas. All future Christmases are cancelled, sorry.
The time we had Covid (2021) and couldn’t do this stuff was nbd bc it was like… ok whatever there will be a next Christmas. But both cancellations this year are bc of health issues that honestly are probably only going to get worse, so there is the possibility that last year was The Last Year Ever.

Despite the rhetoric Illinois actually has relatively low income taxes, especially for the wealthy, which is why all our other taxing streams (property and sales, mostly) are so high. Weird how we never discuss Illinois in the context of how a flat tax is a failure.
