Neither is Don DeLillo’s Underworld. Both that and Infinite Jest felt like worlds I could fall in and out of as easily as going to sleep and dreaming.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.
Not only is this guy so sad that he needs to ask AI how to handle basic human interaction, he doesn’t even use the suggestion he solicited from it (reference a specific highlight of the date)!! Literally cannot be helped.
Came here to comment that it’s probably The Seventh Seal. Maybe there’s an earlier reference, but that’s what immediately sprang to mind.

The America we used to live in—the America we want to think we live in—is gone.

We’ll have to build again.
We want to think that the repeated, widespread abuse of basic rights by DHS; the DOJ actions against former officials like James Comey and John Bolton; the presence of 2020 election deniers across congressional and executive branch leaders; the unconstitutional dismantling of federal agencies; the consolidation of old and new media under leadership favorable to Trump; the use of lawsuits and executive branch power to intimidate and silence critics; and the clear attempts to subvert the 2026 and 2028 elections; and Trump's constant insinuation that he might seek a third term do not all in fact mean
that we have crossed the threshold into a competitive authoritarian environment.
But we have. We have passed through the veil. Whatever becomes of American liberal democracy in the near or distant future, it will be a resurrection and not a continuation.
It’s true. This man has no dick.
Yes, it is dementia. People seem to be confused because he’s always had a personality disorder, and generally been an asshole, but so much of what we are seeing right now is directly related to dementia.
I think all it means is, “They talked about using it but were forced to agree they had no grounds for doing so. Now they are working very hard to figure out how to create a situation that will give them a legal basis for using it.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted “no one has died” as a result of U.S. foreign aid cuts. In Myanmar, the grieving father of a 2-year-old boy who died after their food rations were cut calls such claims a lie.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has repeatedly said “no one has died" because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program.

I'm not a doctor, but this looks like a focal seizure or perhaps a TIA to me. He says outrageous and illegal stuff every day of the week and never pauses to think better of it. Here it looked like he lost the ability to speak. He was conscious but not "there."

I'm not a doctor, but he appears to have had a focal seizure, or perhaps a TIA. People seem to think that just because it happened while he was saying something illegal and outrageous, it was him thinking better of it. This is Stephan Miller, people! www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-cs...

Ça c'est plus drôle que le laitue de Liz Truss.
She knows. She just thinks her base is stupid enough to believe her when she says she didn’t. The same way she voted against releasing the Epstein files, then showed up at the press conference with the victims. They have total contempt for their voters.
It’s a metaphor for the legitimacy of this administration.

I believe the women, but we still need the files because there’s likely a whole lot more in there than people have come forward to tell (understandably).
Take a moment to consider just how bad whatever he did must be, for this person who is constitutionally incapable of feeling shame to act this guilty. It’s honestly terrifying.
How did it end for him? Oh, right…
