Since it must be said loudly & repeatedly:

With many others, I'm an American celebrating international friendship, allies who safeguard freedom, & collaboration that respects:

🇨🇦 Canada
🇬🇱 Greenland
🇩🇰 Denmark
🇲🇽 Mexico
🇵🇦 Panama
🇪🇺 European Union
🇺🇦 Ukraine
🇿🇦 South Africa
🇺🇳 United Nations
Everyone who's been frivolously or wrongfully detained or arrested then publicly slandered with no retraction, in the context of these "operations," ought to be able to join together to seek damages to their professional reputations (let alone personal injuries/damage to vehicles).
Intentional wrongful detention or arrest can cost someone their job. What am I missing?

To me it's a clear case of harming someone's professional reputation by false public statements on events, and failing to use same level of public platform to then correct false public statements.
I'm curious about 1 aspect of law: slander/libel/damages. This hurts reputation, career, livelihood.

As I understand it, it's harder to take action against those in public office for slander than against the press etc

But there's a pattern of false stmts, no retraction, & detaining to intimidate.
Digital version is most useful since you can search the doc more easily & click embedded links,

but one friend printed it & put it in a binder as a research tool for undergrads in her department.

Also a handy tool for required reading ideas to help break the glass syllabus.
If you're tired of wading through

-finicky search results
-denominational/geographic silos
-church/academy divides

I compiled & organized 60+ ecumenical pages of books, resources, & orgs by for & about women leading the church thru history + around the world.

(There's also a book out called "Toxic Empathy".)
“German Christians devoted attention to revising the image of Jesus to fit a manly religion. They stressed his heroism...argued a ‘fighting Christ,’ not ‘a cowardly sufferer who turned the other cheek. We can naturally have nothing to do with a little lamb kind of Christianity...nasty degradation.’”
"Same song 2nd verse" sadly. If empathy is soft/weak-what's opposite? 1930s via Doris Bergen:“German Christians foresaw hierarchy based on gender. The people’s church would be ‘manly’. Nazi critics accused Xty of preaching weakness, humility, & defeatism, feminine traits. True Xty was manly & hard.”

So a gentleman who was part of the Catholic procession to Broadview today was detained during, or following, the procession? I want to make sure I'm understanding clearly what happened.

Mass is being held outside of the Broadview ICE facility good morning I hope November 1st. They requested access to provide communion to those detained inside though it's been denied they will still try after their Mass service.

Members of the faithful lock arms as clergy, including a Chicago Auxiliary Bishop ask for entrance into Broadview ICE detention facility; they are denied entrance again; Fr. Dan Harnett is now leading a prayer of Spiritual Communion with detained immigrants.
On Nigeria:

-Several top govt leaders there are Christians.

-The first lady is herself a pastor.

-In the past year, some violence in the country has been Christians against other Christians.

-I'm acquainted w/some Methodist Nigerians.

In no way is it a simple or straightforward situation.
For what it's worth, not only are there Christians in top government positions in Nigeria, the first lady is herself a pastor.

There has also been violence by Christians toward Christians in Nigeria in the past year or so.

Complex situation to say the least.
On a related note, fluoride was an initiative of the old Dept of Health Ed & Welfare, led by Oveta Culp Hobby, a Republican, in the 50s.

The reverse image of the phrase "nanny state" is decades of women helping people not get swindled & helping people stay alive.

Also, a thing that I mention sometimes but is often lost in all that’s going on:

By RNS’ count, at least 55 religious organizations — including the leaders of entire Christian and Jewish denominations — have signed on to lawsuits against the Trump admin this year, mostly related to immigration.

Yes. religionnews.com/2025/10/21/a...
In fact one woman took advantage of her ship being taken over by pirates as opportunity to evangelize which is objectively hilarious. Recalling God called her to preach & it didn't matter to whom, she refused to eat food that'd been stolen, gave them tracts, asked one about his mother, & so on.
"Hey Elizabeth are you quietly noting the names of pets of 20thC women preachers?"

I don't know Rufus, AM I? Sorry yes in case it's not clear one was Rufus.

"Are you also quietly noting women who preached or were taken hostage by pirates and/or Nazis while aboard ships?"

[flags yes in semaphore]
I watched or listened to a lot of the hearings.

Even with that, wow was all I could say after watching this.

It's framed really well.

There was so much fog + breaking news + overwhelm,

this is a helpful retrospective even aside from the subject himself.
BIG NEWS: When Adam Kinzinger stood up to Trump and risked everything, director Steve Pink captured it all. Meidas Studios just released our latest documentary ‘The Last Republican’ on all major platforms. Watch the movie today!
That's a point he makes in the documentary, actually-that he and Cheney weren't courageous, they were just doing their jobs in a sea of cowardice. It's worth watching.
That man's gonna have such an awkward Thanksgiving dinner.

Meanwhile, ladies in the 1930s:
Also, if you're a citizen & they try this, don't you have the right to stay silent/in this case refuse to have your face scanned as a visual equivalent of silence? The right to stay silent is in part so you don't incriminate yourself. Isn't allowing your face to be scanned potentially incriminating?
New: Videos show ICE/CBP agents are scanning peoples' faces on the street to verify citizenship. ICE has tool to instantly look up unprecedented number of databases with just a photo

“I’m an American citizen so leave me alone”

“Alright, we just got to verify that”

ICE and CBP Agents Are Scanning Peoples’ Faces on the Street To Verify Citizenship
Videos on social media show officers from ICE and CBP using facial recognition technology on people in the field. One expert described the practice as “pure dystopian creep.”

Well this will be a giant lawsuit.

You can say a tech tool gives "definitive determination" all you want -

*it's not proof* and it's not judge jury and executioner.

OH MY GOSH, IF I FAIL CAPTCHA DOES THAT MEAN I'M NOT HUMAN!?

It's literally that easy to debunk this.
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people
