The Westminster Town Hall Forum out of Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Minneapolis is a treasure for Minnesota. Today's talk is required listening...courage is contagious.

First of all, rude
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

One of the biggest tragedies in the classical music world is that the French composer Lili Boulanger (1893-1918) was taken from us at age 24.

I still follow Phoenix news, and this is promising to see. Despite the Willo Soviet's whininess about this, increasing housing density in central-city neighborhoods is good policy. (h/t @seemtoggle.bsky.social)

Phoenix unanimously approved its 'middle housing' ordinance impacting historical districts
The plan aligns with a new state law to allow multifamily homes in areas within a mile of a city’s downtown.

Dear @mndot.mn.gov: Please hire some freeway designers from the AZ DOT to revisit your work. Especially the 35E/52/94 mess. Also: Auxiliary lanes on 94 between Mpls and St Paul. Thank you.

Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique is an incredible (or should I say fantastique?) piece of music, but it's just so programmaticly weird. (Spoiler alert: Unrequited love leads to an opium bender, meandering toward the scaffold at the protagonist's own hanging. Yeah...weird.)

Officially a trace of snow reported at MSP Airport. And with that, winter 2025-26 begins.

Having watched the original BBC version of Have I Got News For You for many years, I had doubts that a US version would stick.

Have I Got News For You US is quite good. I think Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black should go on HIGNFY opposite Ian Hislop and Paul Merton once. That would be excellent.

Has anyone else noticed when using the Claude Haiku 4.5 model in GitHub Copilot (or even Claude Code), that it just loves to create summary documents and plans, but not so much do the work?

I hope new leadership in Saint Paul considers this: If you're just laser focused on adding housing to downtown Saint Paul, and forgetting everything else, you're not building a downtown. You're building a subdivision.

Can punk rock save downtown St. Cloud?
Nonprofits try to restart the city’s beating heart with an all-ages music venue, a proposed community arts space and other ways to draw visitors.

I'll always be partial to Game 7 of the 2001 World Series being the best (because floater, center field, the D-Backs are World Champions), but dang, last night's Game 7 had it all - and a kid from Saint Paul pitching his heart out for the Blue Jays this postseason (Louis Varland).

The central question for the 2025 St Paul mayoral election is this: Despite the trajectory of the city, does the electorate want to stay with the current leadership to move us forward, or is it time for a change (with all its inherent unknowns)? There are compelling arguments both ways.

It would be interesting to see these here. I have ridden one in Phoenix and they can be quite nice. (In full disclosure, I was originally a naysayer of this tech.)

What dreadful software engineering if you put your platform in a single point of failure, and again if you require your stuff to be in constant communication with said platform to work.

So you want to bring 20K more residents to downtown Saint Paul? Great! But unless you focus on the commercial infrastructure as well, you're just building another suburb, where we have to commute out to work, shop, play.

Try again.

I rarely agree with the Pioneer Press columnist Joe Soucheray, but he is kind of right: of all the issues facing St Paul, seeing the Summit Avenue bike trail built (which I do think is a good idea) is pretty far down on that list. www.twincities.com/2025/10/11/j...
Joe Soucheray: If you list St. Paul’s 100 most pressing needs, bikes come in at 101
Five candidates for St. Paul mayor were asked where they stood on the proposed bicycle trail along Summit Ave. Three had the right response, Soucheray writes.
