So I decided: fuck it. I'm making my own work. Since October, I've been setting up my own solo studio and working on a game prototype.

Horrible news, and - what - only a year since the last set of layoffs there? Despite how much I respect a lot of Japanese developers, I don't think I could ever work for the Western arm of a Japanese business because you will *always* be the first to get the chop.

Horrible news, and - what - only a year since the last set of layoffs there? Despite how much I respect a lot of Japanese developers, I don't think I could ever work for the Western arm of a Japanese business because you will *always* be the first to get the chop.
Help me, Bluesky! I'd love to find and chat to UK-based up-and-coming music composers for games - especially those who are as obsessed with the Japanese school of melody-focused game music as I am. Finally got around to finishing Gundam GQuuuuuuX. What a turnaround - those last six episodes were a compelling mash-up of Gundam and Evangelion. Just a shame that a) the first six were so aimless and b) it requires knowing the story of a cartoon series from the 70s to have the proper impact.
