Hot off the press - very aptly for this bio of a fiery but often misrepresented anarchist figure, by a brilliant historian of the movement.
Cannot wait to read it!

#otd in 1939, the anarchist writer and editor Jean Grave passed away, in near-complete oblivion, at the ripe old age of 85.
He had once been one of the best known figures in the international anarchist movement, and a highly regarded theorist in his own right (hence the mugshort below).

As anarchists, we reject the idea that judges or politicians should be trusted to determine who belongs in our communities.

This is not a question of how to interpret the Constitution or appoint better judges, but of how to defend each other from the violence of the state.

I spent some time this morning working on the Corvus Editions archive, linking the best copies available of texts from the Utopias and “Utopian” Socialism / Science Fiction library. There are some neglected gems there.

It's also not so much that they're "hoarding" money -- most of it's "invested" in some form of economic activity -- it's that they're in control of where the money's directed, and it's "invested" in their priorities -- which are mostly bubbles, enshittification, and private equity asset-stripping...
“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

btw this is also personal to me bc a lot of people (particularly those experiencing even low level psychosis) also don't like smartphones due to being terrified of being tracked. they literally don't trust them. (and they probably shouldn't lmao) they still deserve to be able to take the goddamn bus
and yes this is personal to me. my gran nor either of my uncles nor my grandpa nor my neighbor have smartphones. that's 5 people in my life who don't have smart phones
