Wowzers, that last post got some traction. As it was happening though, I realized that post made two in a row about Patton Oswalt. And while, yeah, I'm a little in love with the guy's comedy, this is NOT a Patton tribute account or something.

(Except now I've posted about him three times in a row.)

Just heard that Dick Cheney died and instantly thought of it this clip that introduced me to the comedy of @pattonoswalt.bsky.social ages and ages ago. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIQS...

At the mechanic to get an exhaust check-up and I’m pretty sure I’m *not* supposed to look at the pretty blue light of the blowtorch, but it’s cool-looking and it makes sparks and the alternative is local news on the TV next to me.

My favorite comic strip turns 75 today, just a few days before my own 48th birthday. I don't know why I always forget the anniversary is so close. Good grief!
The first Peanuts strip by Charles M. Schulz was published on October 2, 1950.

a sampling of things i tell myself during a night out with old friends:

1. If you can't find parking, just go home. They don't really want to see you anyway.

2. You're so fat that they're embarrassed to be seen with you.

3. That thing you said just now was the stupidest thing ever said by anyone.

Like Monica says, you should read it. And not just for the future bits—which are marvelous and incredibly well-imagined and well-wrought—but for the masterful blending of three different timelines, each of the other two equally well-done.
Just wanted to mention here that I wrote an ENTIRE BOOK about a future utopian society based on perpetual mass migration. You should read it :)

Great. Now try convincing them (us) to vote for the same person INSTEAD of this asshole they (we) all hate.
Two thirds of Americans are not Trump voters
The backlash to ABC/Disney canceling Kimmel has been swift, and severe. The whole episode underscores something I've been blogging about for a while: A lot of powerful people just don’t realize how unpopular Trump is

Also: there is a guy in front of me driving a white Chevy truck with a bumper sticker that reads “warning: big truck, small penis.“

I am not sure what to make of it. Self-awareness? Reverse psychology? A little of both?

The sign by the side of the road reads “dollar forever. Store closing.”

So I guess it’s not really forever, is it?

I did not know how much I needed to hear Jeff Bridges say, “Nine Inch Nails, man” until just now.

Now I just need to hear him say, “Trent Reznor was able to compose this IN A CAVE. WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!”

Working on issue #6 of the comic, even as copies of issue #5 are winging their way toward me (so that I can ship them right back out the door to my amazing readers), and I think issue #6 might be the actual death of me. So far behind, and the Big Bad Wolf presents new challenges every day, but…

I was trying to get to the bottom of the meme/trend/whatever that started while I was asleep, and I finally found it in the comments of a post by Roxane Gay.

It is oddly comforting that Dr. Gay needed help understanding what's going on, just like I did.
As far as I can tell, it started with this

Another learned behavior I want to unlearn: dismissing folks younger than me who are now experiencing parts of the aging process for the first time. I should be helping them the way I wish older folks had helped me! (And maybe *sharing* a laugh along the way, but never laughing *at* them.)

I'll be at the Plastic City Comic Con today from 10-5, selling copies of "The Blood of Seven Queens." Event is at the Hilton Double Tree in Leominster, MA. I'm at table 142 in the Gershwin Room, but I promise not to sing any show tunes (unless well-paid/bribed).
