I long to live in a world where people's physical appearance and abilities are no longer mocked and belittled, and cruelty and greed are seen as 'humiliating' traits instead.

Not long until the new exhibition on Mythical Creatures opens at @colmuseums.bsky.social

Make sure to go along if you are in the area
Dragons breathe fire, hoard treasure, and… argue with each other? 🐉

In medieval England, dragons were more likely to squabble amongst themselves than terrorise humans. Mischief-makers at heart, their tales were possibly inspired by venomous snakes: real threats turned into mythical monsters.
Fantasy-themed artwork of Colchester Castle with flowering branches, a flying griffin, and a coiled dragon in the foreground. Text overlaid reads: “A fortnight until Mythical Creatures – 26 July 2025 – 22 February 2026”. Colchester Castle logo in bottom right.
Following the International Society for #Folklore and #Ethnology - #SIEF Congress at the University of Aberdeen I’m happy to announce that I have been elected to the Executive Board of the SIEF Ritual Year Working Group.

What I try to explain to people is that writing a book is hard and sometimes miserable and editing a book is hard and sometimes miserable but then once in a while everything crystallizes and you can see how to make it really good and it’s the best feeling in the world. That’s where I am right now.
We had such interesting discussions in our roundtable at the University of Aberdeen on “Unwriting ecological relationality in the humilocene: Exploring the wisdom embodied in land-based craft traditions” in the #SIEF25 Place Wisdom Working Group stream today.

Absolutely priceless “unhand me” face from my collection. No documented date/info.
Black and white photo of a young light skinned girl with blonde hair, standing outside in a flower garden and holding a beautiful white and ginger medium haired cat with a furious expression on its face.
