All I’m saying is, I still know tons of people waiting on a code for this place, and my realtor just added me on Threads.

I don’t like it. But if AAA video game development has taught me anything, it’s that “regular ass people” are who actually make something huge.

So the thing that Threads has going for it over Bluesky is definitely instant scale.

I joined Bluesky and it took weeks to get even a tiny number of folks I know and want to follow. Meanwhile on Threads I’m getting a notification every few minutes of people I actually know following me.

the vibes on twitter are just so, so bad. I used to flip over a lot to try to keep up on content but there’s just … nothing there of use. it’s just trash content and ads. nearly all the best creators have slowed their posting to a reluctant crawl. it feels like shopping in a dying j.c. penney.

I would have to look into the specifics of the tax dodge involved to make this argument more clearly, but yes. If it’s no longer an asset for tax reasons then it should no longer be an asset for copyright enforcement.
when movies get deleted for tax reasons, they should legally become public domain. people should be allowed to upload it anywhere they want. that's the tradeoff you make if you wanna delete your own movie released this year for a few extra bucks, and i think it's fair

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: fun and memorable, lots of Nazi punching, does the series justice. Most of the action is with old Indy but the de-aged flashbacks work well.

So I guess the odd numbered Indy films are officially the best.

Every time I use an infrared thermometer it feels like I’m using a FEDRA scanner. Green: “nope, not a zombie”.

In my experience, there is an EXTREMELY high correlation between the sort of dude who is opposed to people blocking accounts, and the sort of dude who regularly gets blocked because he is, intentionally or not, some flavor of obnoxious.

What would you even call this movie?
I have a friend who’s joked that the movie about Elon Musk’s time running Twitter could never work as a piece of fiction because no one would believe such a successful businessman would have so many bad ideas about running a company.

Every decision being bad would be too unrealistic. And yet…

600 tweets per day - and on a Saturday?? Of a long weekend?? The wheels are never going back on that thing.

A lot of this is a numbers game.

From my time doing stuff like this, we heard a lot that the magic number where you start to get swarms of toxic replies in quantities difficult to manage is something around 20k followers.

Bluesky is still too small at only O(100k) accounts.
doing numbers on bluesky (20+ likes) feels like making all my buddies at the bar laugh while doing numbers on twitter feels like accidentally alerting The Predator to my location
