Honestly this typing feels targeted against me...

Is this project still being worked on or has it been cancelled? I see the last update was from over a year ago. But if this game is still in development I'm very much looking forward to it!

Watch out for them Fudgies...!

Little gif of them plant fellas from @dreamcube.bsky.social's game Chirax's Fortress!
ok thats fair, I think thats valid you dislike it then. I just can't stand how many people bash it without even trying it. (I'd say with any game, not just virtual boy games, people should try it themselves first) I never owned a virtual boy until just this year, and I really like it.
The only people who say this are people who've never played a virtual boy. Its got a lot of good games, space squash, red alarm, bound high, jack bros, panic bomber, etc. I'd say most of the games I've played on mine are good, which is not something I can say about other consoles.
original game boy and wonderswan both don't have color either, but people act like they are required to endlessly bash virtual boy because clearly the AVGN is the end-all of all opinions and no one is allowed to ever try games for themselves or form their own opinions.
So many people here bashing the virtual boy who've never played one. I have one, and its actually underrated and most of the games for it are great. Also, JUST LIKE MODERN VR, yes there is a small percentage of people who will get headaches from playing it but most people won't.

@dreamcube.bsky.social was another victim of worming through the code to prototype Anbernic Portmaster tests of Chirax's Fortress. The game runs fine, but there's some nuance with the current setup (I decomp PCKs for these tests, Blender auto-gltfing don't work well here.) But it's possible.

I see the kickstarter didn't make it. Is the game itself still in development?

The English version of jack bros is $1,000 on eBay but the Japanese version is $200, and the virtual boy is region free so you can just play the Japanese version, it even has a cheat code that sets the game to English.
I own a virtual boy, its actually a very underrated console and most of the games on it are pretty good. the AVGN was just playing mario clash wrong, youre supposed to use right dpad and R instead of A and B. He also didn't even change his speed or strafe while playing red alarm.
The 770,000 sales number often quoted for the virtual boy is actually wrong, because the Japanese magazine this number originates from states these numbers are from March of 1996, so it doesn't account for all the virtual boys sold between March of 1996 and August of 1996.
The virtual boy is actually an underrated gem, I got one recently. Although I got mine for $200, which although is on the cheaper end, is still like not that far off for how much they are charging for this.
I'm a huge fan of retro consoles. I really want one of these. But at $230usd its really hard to justify it. I think you need to sell the hardware either a break even or a slight loss and make up for it in software sales. You're charging gameboy micro prices for a gameboy pocket.
