One of the things I like about Europe is that, instead of single-use cat grass planters for about $5, that last about 3 days, they sell starter kit polystyrene cold-cut trays and bags of sawdust and grass seed refills. For about $2 each, you can keep re-using the same tray that lasts about 2 weeks.

How much do fresh herbs cost in the US these days? I finally looked at them here in Portugal. The equivalent of a clamshell case is .99€ and the mini pots with the fake soil are 1.50€, or about $1.30 and $2.25 respectively.

Bought my first pair of pants in Portugal. I brought my backpack with me to the mall, and it already had a half-dozen things in it from different stores, so I didn't bother the fitting room attendant. Turned out the 38"/32" US measurements were perfect, AND they were stretch denim. 18 Euro/$25 win!

My Portuguese tutor cleared something up for me today. Which verb to use for getting dressed. DuoLingo gave me three verbs and didn't explain, just marked me wrong. (DL Suxxorz!) In Portuguese, vestir means to dress one's body. Calçar means to wear on hands or feet.

I don't know if many US grocery stores have bread-slicing machines. Certainly none I've shopped at. Too dangerous. Best just stick to AR-15s. But every supermercado has one, an industrial band saw for public use. Finally got to watch someone use it. I can now have freshly baked sliced bread!

Interesting fact I discovered today. Here in Portugal, pants are often measured using US-style Waist/Inseam measurements, *in inches*. The really interesting thing, though, is that they are also measured in UK sizes and EU/Italian size numbers. So each pair of pants has three different measurements.
