Chris Murphy "No Senator has an obligation to vote for a budget that pays the bills for the destruction of our democracy" and blue states should not finance their own demise. Trump is playing Calvinball. Blue states should not pay fed taxes until Trump stops and reverses the lawlessness.
This is the most effed up thing about the ICE gestapo - they can freely violate people's constitutional and legal rights while enforcing civil, non-criminal immigration law. Local police must do their job and protect their residents from criminally violent ICE thugs.
Pritzker and Democrat governors need to authorize their law enforcement to hold ICE accountable for unlawful use of force. They absolutely have the right.

How much more terror do people have to experience at the hands of Trump's Gestapo?
Trump's insurrection against the Constitution is about to turn blue states red by decapitating their state and city governments. Maybe move secession efforts to the front burner. @governor.ca.gov @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

Trump has clarified the lack of any value proposition for blue states to remain in his trashed USA. Blue states are footing the bill for their own demise. In a calmer time this was called "no taxation without representation". Blue state secession now. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/07/o...

Not sure why soft secession doesn't have traction yet. Are we waiting for Trump to declare war on us? He checked that box last week. CA is in the awkward position of financing Trump's efforts to wreck our state. We should stop that. The USA needs CA more than CA needs the USA. @governor.ca.gov
Blue states need to band together to protect immigrants, science, health, and our values. Some of this is happening already, we just need to face what more we can and must do www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
It’s time for soft secession

General strike until Trump rolls back his fascism to 1/20/25.
Understand what they are doing: using the massive power of the state - including military power and the power to imprison - to carry out a campaign to eliminate their political opposition.

It's growing in seriousness by the hour.
Blue states must defund Trump's assault on us by raising fees on the feds (tyranny tax) and withholding our fed tax $ all while remaining a safe sanctuary for our Constitution and tolerant way of life.
The public cannot stay silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian conduct by the President of the United States.
A blue states compact is overdue. Trump's military assaults on and defunding of blue states justifies push back including keeping money currently sent to red states. Blue states also provide sanctuary for our Constitution as it too is under assault by Trump. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Blue states should come together to declare an emergency. Here’s how | Thomas Geoghegan
States opposed to Trump can create a compact – a new prototype for American government – even if it’s perceived as political theater

Trump demands national domination not divorce. He will keep squeezing blue states financially and militarily and when he declares his big emergency, he'll arrest and replace all Dem govs with maga. Dear blue states, you're not voting this away, we must defund Trump. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/04/o...

“It’s just common sense that government needs to attract the rich”. Now that we have gov of, by and for the rich in DC, it’s clear how terrifying socialism really is. This has been another edition of Mamdani is scary, BOO.

Glad that Trump's declaration of war on Blue America made 1 of the 5 NYT takeaways. One of my takeaways today is that combined with the shutdown, Trump has his big emergency and the plan is to break the country and put the military's boot on everyone's neck. USA. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/30/u...

It might be a red line when the commander in chief states that the US military should use Democratic cities as a training ground. Blue states should get serious about secession. But I guess we could just wait for Trump to declare war on us. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/09...

Yes, the people of Chicago should go out and document ICE violence and the violation of their rights while state law enforcement avoid the feds? Why can't the city and the state enforce local criminal laws being violated by the feds while the feds enforce civil, not criminal immigration laws?
Shutting down the government has no place in a functioning democracy, which we obviously aren't but government shutdowns are normal here. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/24/u...

Which is what his boss loves about him.
The shutdown is Trump's way of shifting blame for his American hellscape onto Dems. Trump refuses to negotiate, this is on him. Trump will take his emergency and declare himself king which will just make America hate him more. Power to the people. thehill.com/homenews/sen...
