Watching a Peter Falk / John Cassavetes movie and I'm kind of impressed by how unconcerned it is with being in focus.

It's been awhile since I needed to use stock images, which are all AI dogshit now, apparently. Tell me why I need to pay for these images that the computer made.

Black Friday lost its meaning for me when they stopped having brawls at Walmart. Black Friday needs a little blood. A bit of grit.

Mark Carney keeps trying to get in bed with me and I have to keep shooing him away. Mark Carney sleeps on the floor. He knows this.

Every AI ad right now: I am a dumb idiot who literally cannot function without asking my phone how to get through the day, and I love this product!
People on BlueSky: AI is useless! A stochastic parrot!

Mathematicians/biologists/physicists: It is already helping us do frontier technical research and in some cases solve open problems arxiv.org/pdf/2511.16072

(There are of course, as always, many caveats, but the paper is genuinely remarkable)

If scientists have some new computer code that makes their specific work more efficient then great. I don’t give a shit but go for it man. But that’s not what this is all about at all. It’s a supposed culture changing force we’re all being pressured into genuflecting in front of and paying for.

Wow 80% of people think your thing sucks ass, huh.
Wow 80% bad-faith responses, and people lecturing the creator of Flask here and the creator of Django/datasette in the comments on why AI is useless for software engineering...
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

That's because most of the people who use it are fucking morons
I love how all anti AI discourse immediately devolve into personal attacks.

Gathering my family around the cabbage hoping they aren't mad that I put our entire stock portfolio into AI
Cabbage is affordable, delicious, and astoundingly versatile, @giladedelman.bsky.social writes. The underrated crucifer “is fit for a king”:

Embrace cabbage.

Genuinely considering pivoting careers to something that doesn't require me to use a computer
It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

What irks me so much is that they have to know it's worse. For some reason it doesn't matter to them that it's 100x worse than it used to be.

When you default to assuming you're in the sky not on the ground.
I hate this sort of meme.

“The only difference between the parties is whether the power to destroy human civilization rests in the hands of leaders who think gays, women, and black people should have their rights acknowledged.”

Even if true, how is Rainbow B-52 not infinitely preferable?
