All I'm getting from these people is "I didn't really pick up on anything at the time so it must have been fine back then" instead of internalizing WHY you didn't pick up on anything at the time.
I didn't realize that erotic fiction, which has existed for a really long time, was exploiting sex workers. Thank god the computer came along to bring ethics to pornography.
So when I say that when I was a young Republican, I didn't realize it was inherently racist, okay, disbelieve me. Pretend I used the n-word or whatever. I didn't, but whatever you need to feel superior.
But remember: when your rule is "born perfect or GTFO," you are limiting your coalition.
