Maybe I'll also do a digital sample for the porfolio. Thinking in flatter compositions for printmaking, I accidentaly got that look I was looking for younger readers. It's difficult to get rid of the depth I got from doing comics for older kids. Sometimes you need to unlearn stuff.

A little gnome I watercolored las Sunday. Cotton paper is great, I forgot after years of practicing on cheap paper.
And my old scanner still works, yay!

But it may feel too different from my commercial portfolio. The style pigeonholing can be a bother. Like you can only sell one flavor. My art is mine, be it digital ink, pencil, with pen & watercolor or carved. The last one forces you to change the composition style a bit, but that is the fun part.

Another year where I feel like participating in Bologna's illustration contest, but am out of time. And I only have comics and middle-grade interiors to show, I feel they are too cartoony for that context.
I am very tempted to do a linocut series of a local folktale to participate in 2027...

That blue is actually more a water-based ink than watercolor. Hue based instead of pigment. Anilines.

More linocut prints, now that I'm preparing some gifts. I tried it on the cotton paper again, but this time it got smudged on the top.
Someone suggested painting it in blue, and not bad. Time will tell if it counts or if it's used on the other side for watercolor tests. Cotton paper is expensive!
