I just received Joe Bob’s new book in the mail, and if y’all are fans, I highly recommend. The art was done by a mutant on here and it’s got a lot of good info, such as All-Time Greatest Drive-in Movies and annual ‘Best of’ selections for those golden years of 1982-1984

Is there where you mute the sound and the album synchs up with the film, à la ‘Wizard’ and ‘Dark Side of the Moon’?

Anyone else getting physical with tonight's watch? I've got an old Blue Underground release that I'll be spinning tonight.

Just watched this one the other day. Pretty good indie film

Me, either, but the director, who was on ‘The Last Drive-in’ (if memory serves), is supposed to be pretty good.

Have you done the 365 Challenge? I ask because you seem to be racking up the watches here lately

#nowwatching Die Monster Die on Tubi. I watched this a couple of years ago and barely remember it so I’m giving it a rewatch. Lovecraftian creatures demand it of me! #horror #horrorsky

Spendy! Didn’t we have a discussion awhile back about whether or not ‘Suspiria’ was giallo!? I remember thinking, ‘Wow, this Spendy guy really knows his stuff’ and now I come to find this out! I don’t believe in Santa anymore

242/365–‘They Live’ Who could’ve guessed that Rowdy Roddy would be the late 80s hero we all needed (John Carpenter, that’s who!) Drifter puts on sunglasses and, much like taking the Red Pill, finds himself falling down the Rabbit Hole. Consumerism as invading aliens

241/365–‘Creepshow’ Channeling the old EC comics, this beloved anthology written by Stephen King features several unforgettable tales, including one with King himself starring. Romero directed, with some great practical FX. Personal fav? ‘Tell ‘em to call you Billie!’

240/365–‘Arachnophobia’ #HouseOfSvengoolie This and ‘Them!’ back-to-back raised the question of which was worse, a few thousand giant bugs or millions of little deadly ones? Great cast, with Goodman’s good ol’ boy exterminator making this flick charmingly effective

239/365–‘Them!’ #Svengoolie Sven says this was the first big bug movie from the 50s. Shares both a birth year (‘54) and a theme with the more famous ‘Godzilla’—that theme being our splitting of the atom has created atom monsters hellbent on revenge. Intimate and epic

Bogart was larger than life, but he was also a superior craftsman who doesn’t get the credit for his acting chops. Here’s one exhibit that shows how the best can convey a range of emotions with nothing more than facial expressions and a certain look in the eye m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Jnz...

I like to say, having read the book a couple summers back, that Tony’s Norman is a vastly different animal than the frumpy middle-aged zero-rizz one from Bloch’s pages, and that is the genius in Hitchcock’s casting. The role haunted him for the rest of his extraordinary life, but he was just sooo…
