I’m cynical enough by now to think that nothing in the Epstein files will move the needle on Trump’s approval. I expect Melania will dismiss it as “locker room talk” and then the NY Times will bothsides it all away.

Now that Trump is well on the way to transforming the White House in to a Temu Versailles, can we have a discussion about the aesthetics of absolutist interior design and its role in establishing despotic power?

I live in Chicago and can state with certainty that the biggest crime problem here is armed gangs of masked thugs roaming the city. They beat people up, abduct them, and act with impunity. May they all be brought to justice!

If it’s legit to blow away people in boats on the suspicion that they are running drugs, why not also obliterate people who are suspected of seeking to buy drugs?

At the deli counter an employee asked what I wanted. I replied "The severed head of Stephen Miller." She said they don't have any in stock, but I could check back tomorrow. One can dream.

My take from the Hegseth -Trump cringefest: The armed forces of the US are no more. Anyone who remains in uniform is a member of the armed forces of the Republican Party. The reputational damage will likely be huge.

When the obituary for American democracy is written, I suggest June 14, 2025 as the date of decease. That pitiful parade marks the end of what was once a functioning democracy. Everything since then is best seen as a wake and funeral officiated by the Supreme Court.

Now that Hegseth has decreed that the honors granted after the “Battle of Wounded Knee” will remain, I await posthumous honors for the US troops who fought in the “Battle of My Lai.”

It's been really embarrassing to be an American citizen ever since Trump was first elected, and his second term has made it vastly more so. But, having listened to that UN speech, I can say that the level of embarrassment is an order of magnitude worse than it was this morning.

There is a crime wave in Chicago. Armed gangs of masked men are abducting residents and assaulting people. Nobody is safe when the Gestapo roam the streets.
They just tear-gassed us. They tried to run us over in a van holding a peaceful protester. They shot us with pepper balls. They dragged another protester into the facility.
