Started this solo dungeon crawl back in September and then my cat passed away (and big depression hit) so it took me some time to come back to it. Trying to revisit it now bc I want to practice adventure writing and drawing more maps on the fly

Taking a stab at trying some layout in Affinity rather than with scissors and tape and I deeply regret to say that it is actually quite useful for working out how much word I can fit on the page before I spend several hours cutting and pasting.

In the east of the Shire, north of the Water, are three communities built in and around the Hills of Scary. Although all hobbits (outside of the Marish) are habitual tunnellers, these towns are especially underground. What will intrepid burglars find there?

Finished the hexmap yesterday but it was too late to photograph it, so I made another one.
Sorry for the strong side sunlight, which makes the paper appear too textured.
With thanks to @idraluna-archives.bsky.social, @ktrey.bsky.social, and @save.vs.totalpartykill.ca who were kind to the first one.

A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

In the second volume of Tsutomu Nihei's "Tower Dungeon," our brave trio gets lost on a maze-like level, and we learn more about the tower. It definitely seems inspired by megadungeons from D&D and roguelike games! Outside, a boomtown springs up to supply the gold rush.

I have written a new blog about what an OSR is. I am told there is a lot of discourse about this, but am confident that this should settle the matter once and for all.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

Candlesnuff fungus, rising up like a ghostly apparition from the rainforest floor and waving its limbs.

A saprotrophic species, it helps break down deadwood. It's also bioluminescent, emitting a faint green light by night.
