We love this message of love from @aoc.bsky.social to trans youth everywhere. As we approach 60k signatures, we echo the sentiment wholeheartedly.

The continued attack on the trans community is absolutely not in our name:

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

This is brilliant, particularly this line about early social media: ‘If you got exposed to insane opinions, that was only because your real-world friends were insane’

The Mayor of Chicago referenced a historical general strike in his speech today in a way that very much sounded like he was planting that seed.
An absolutely MASSIVE peaceful rally like #NoKings is part of an organizing strategy and movement that could lead to what this sign maker wants.

All of it matters. All of it builds.

Historians of the future: Rest assured, millions of us know all this in real time. We are horrified, shocked, enraged, and ashamed. We are acting, in a thousand ways, to oppose it. This cannot, and will not, be how the United States ends. trib.al/0islLh9

My 14-year-old self would never have guessed that, in 50 years' time, all the world's music would be available at the click of a button, you'd navigate the globe by carrying a tiny computer around in your pocket, and the US President would post a video of himself shitting over American citizens.

I joined the "human banner" at San Francisco's Ocean Beach. This flag was at the center. It was a gorgeous day with enormous waves. #nokings

It's official. Nearly 7 million people. Today is the single largest day of protest in American history. Americans from all corners of the country are standing up and saying #NoKings. This is what peaceful, patriotic protest looks like.

So let me go further, bc the news stories are not yet (tho some commentators are).

Why was the most powerful military in the history of the world unable to destroy a jerry-rigged submarine?
Have ANY of the "Venezuelans" Trump murdered in the name of combatting Venezuelan invasion been Venezuelan?
Alright. I’m going to say it.

The most powerful military in the history of the world set out to destroy a jerry-rigged submarine in uncontested waters and

Failed.
