I remember CB did an ‘it deserved better’ post for PiB2 because it wasn’t making as much money as Avatar 2. But PiB2 was highly praised, made 5 times its budget, stayed in the top 5 for 2 months, is talked about constantly online, and was nominated for tons of awards; all the checkboxes of a hit.

I agree with a lot of this. For me, it was especially noticeable with something like "Wish." So many, whether on YouTube or Twitter, just couldn't have a normal conversation about it and calmly explain its strengths and weaknesses. They mostly just flung baseless accusations at the filmmakers.
