Apparently deep knowledge of Subchapter K isn’t enough anymore.
Guess it’s time to add tactical weapons training to my CPE plan. 🎯🔫

In The Accountant 2, Christian Wolff can spot money laundering with one glance at the company's financials.
I can’t even spot where a client expensed $40,000 of 'marketing' that somehow involved a yacht. 🚤🧾

How many other #TaxSky peeps are rebuilding their social lives?
This weekend I....

Step 1 - Texted friends I ghosted since January

Step 2: Apologized

Step 3: Convince them I'm still fun even though my brain is stuck hunting for missed tax issues and tax planning opportunities.

I’ve worked with dozens of business owners on the sale of their companies.

The ones who walked away satisfied all did these 3 things.
The ones with regrets? Most skipped #2. 👇

💡 Why are F reorganizations the go-to structure for S corp sales?

If you work on deals, you’ve probably seen the shift. Here’s why F reorgs are everywhere—and why they're so popular 👇

It’s post 4/15 so I finally have some time to plan leisure travel. But I’m finding I’m not good at it, and it’s exhausting. Anyone else long for the days of travel agents? Do they still exist?

Need to add to my onboarding checklist: have you contacted your prior tax preparer to let him/her know you’re not returning? Or maybe ask the new client if I can do it for them?
More than half of my new clients this year had $0 extensions filed for them by the prior firm. It…wasn’t helpful. #taxbs

Tax M&A Truth: In M&A deals, tax exposure doesn’t end with due diligence. It lives on in the reps, indemnities, and post-closing drama. #MergersAndAcquisitions #TaxSky #Deals

🧵 5 Things I’m Doing Differently Next Busy Season 👇

1. Blocking time for deep work—no Slack, no calls, no interuptions.

2. Saying no more often (yes even to "quick questions")

3. Delegating earlier—and letting it be imperfect.

4. Protecting 1 day/week for strategic projects (not just survival)

As we finish up our March 17 work take the extra few minutes to thank your staff, managers, and admins for their help. Yes it's their "job", but that doesn't mean you shouldn't say thank you. Expressing genuine apprecation goes a long way, and we still have a month to go until 4/15. #TaxSky

Could Loper Bright and the End of Chevron Deference Mean Better Terms for Sellers in M&A? 🤔💡
For years, buyers in M&A used state tax uncertainty to demand large holdbacks, indemnities, and price cuts to cover potential multi-state tax risks.

🚨 But what if that’s about to change? #TaxSky
