I am introducing the Melt ICE Act to end funding for immigrant detention and monitoring.

We have seen the danger in infusing resources into DHS’s abuses of power. Funding for ICE is fuel for human suffering.

It’s time to start melting ICE.

📣Now more than ever, we need real leaders to act courageously for the rights and dignity of everyone. We welcome @ramirez.house.gov's leadership in introducing the Melt ICE Act to say no more!

No more endless funding for ICE, no more abuse and death at the hands of ICE, no more cruel detention!

NEW analysis from DWN’s executive director,
@silkys13.bsky.social on the mass deportation agenda during 2025. The passage of the funding bill allocating $170 billion to immigration enforcement was an ominous milestone in the history of U.S. immigration policy & the Trump admin's aspiring facism.
After Congress allocated an additional $170 billion for immigration enforcement in July, ICE became the largest law enforcement agency in the country, with a bigger budget than the Bureau of Prisons, FBI, and most militaries in the world.
Trump Has Made ICE the Largest Law Enforcement Agency in the Country
With Congress-approved funding, ICE detention is expected to triple in size, mirroring the scale of Japanese internment.

The stories of pregnant women in ICE detention — one shackled while miscarrying, another placed in solitary confinement with a high-risk pregnancy — are not one offs.

They're a clear pattern of neglect where ICE ignores its own rules. This cruelty must end.
