New blog post: Non-coherent m-FSK BER. Another short post in which I derive the following formula for the symbol error rate of non-coherent m-FSK and validate it using simulations. destevez.net/2025/10/non-...
Yes. I enjoyed the way I was taught HDL and think it would make a great basis for a puzzle solving game.

if i published a game on steam that consisted of a "code editor and HDL toolchain behind it (simply works)" & the objective is "implement logic in a real HDL without handrails but with debugger and tutorials" and there is a progression, leaderboard, and achievements

would you play or playtest it?

Have you ever wanted to see a 90 second abridged explanation of how diode lasers work? Here it is.
I took some pictures of a laser under my SEM, and it kind of just scope crept into a whole video. Not perfectly accurate, but it's hard to squeeze 100 books of info into 90 seconds.

The basket expiration time was shorter than the time it was taking to load the next page... painful. We had two tickets and a campervan in the basket and couldn't submit our account information before it expired!

💥Greater (partial) success for #amateurradio and #amsat satellite operators in dispute with AST Spacemobile over commercial use of the 430-440 MHz amateur radio band for TT&C! 💥 In its reference Attachment to the recent grant, dated August 29, 2025, the FCC imposes clear limits ⬇️

Ok let me rephrase this. Games (or puzzles) that use (or misuse) pointers (or other things I don't understand ) as a mechanic.
Are there any games about accessing out of bounds memory on microcontrollers ? Like I'm imagining doing some things in C to intentionally access unallocated memory to print some specific result. Am I making sense ?
One of the best homeworks I was ever assigned is the CMU Bomb lab. You would need to compile and set it up, but the source code has been leaked. Don't peak inside the bomb itself, spoilers!

The Australian GNU Radio Days event is running September 23-26 in Adelaide, hosted by Flinders University. Three days of talks and workshops followed by breakouts.

Still a little time to submit a talk or booth if you're interested!

GNU Radio is looking for a contractor to either port the existing Qt based GNU Radio Companion application to the web (running proof of concept exists), or to develop a new frontend capable of creating flowgraphs, executing the resulting program, and displaying the UI in the web.

Could that be you?

We are finally ready to announce that EMF 2026 will happen on July 16-19, 2026, at Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Herefordshire.

Expect more updates soon as we start spinning up the organisation again.
@angadh.com I really like the formatting of your blog. The typography, suggested soundtracks, clear links, and organizations work well together. I'm enjoying the variety of topics as well. Thanks for sharing your writing!

Found motivation to write some SAR processing code. Fast factorized backprojection generates several small polar format images and then interpolates them to one big image. It's faster, but has slightly worse image quality due to all the interpolations.
Your blog posts are always great reads. Would you consider writing one on measuring these references and calculating the coefficients? Claudio's site is a good reference on coefficient calculation and it would be interesting to see your take on it.
