We now have to say goodbye to yet another absolute titan of classic cinema. One so impactful to the aesthetic of film, no other artist could possibly compare. Regardless of the contents of a film, before you even knew who he was, his posters drew you to that movie.

I watched Giant Claw from (1957) last night.
It's about a giant bird puppet with an anti-mater forcefield that eats planes.

Brian Froud's illustrations have always been inspiring to me, but seeing him in action is just next level. There's such finesse in the hardness and softness he choses for the linework, and with so much intent without construction. Just letting his pencil run free!

Yeah, there's so much in the Lord Of The Rings that was never initially conceived during the making of the Hobbit. Even the one ring. In the Hobbit it was merely a funny little magic ring which Bilbo finds and uses to get out of all sorts of tricky situations.

It's hard to tell if it did. Early publishing's of the Hobbit hardly describe Gollum's features at all, which is why there are such varying interpretations. It's only after remedying that mistake, people started to illustrate him as an ancient, emaciated Hobbit creature

It's the weirdest thing to hear my dad of all people bring up the new Simpsons movie to me. My mechanic dad who has no time anywhere in his life for cartoons of any kind, or has ever shown an interest in the Simpsons suddenly spike up and go "TOM! Did you hear? There's gonna be a new Simpsons movie!
