Great thread. If y'all ain't followin' @jennycohn.bsky.social , y'oughta be.
Kevin Dolan told the “Network State” conference that his group is “gonna build a clubhouse” in the Austin, TX area.

(In 2023, he RTd a video suggesting Black people move “back to Africa” & wrote, “This is probably the closest thing to a practicable solution to the race problem in America.”) 1/
Graveyards are a waste of resources. People are biodegradable and should be buried naked so they can decompose and feed their sweet, sweet nutrients back to the earth.

Buying me a coffin after I die makes as much sense as buying me a birthday card.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
It's often the social media posts you least expect that blow up.

The most engagement I ever got on any post anywhere was the time I Tweeted about accidentally texting a picture of my hog to my mother-in-law.
Right on top of those world events, I see.
Q: Do you feel Israel was justified with striking when it did?

TRUMP: Striking where?

Q: In Gaza. Today. And overnight.

TRUMP: I'd have to get back to you on that
I gotta go get some dog food. It was nice chatting with ya!
If I had a dollar for every obscure fantasy RPG that was created, sold, and played mainly in Indiana, I'd have 2 bucks. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened more than once.

(The other is Adventire Quest/Jaern) created at Purdue and still played there)
Lately been poring over Darkus Thel, a T&T-derived indi game from back in the day that was crrated and mostly played in Indiana. Very dungeon focused.
Probably my favorite game of all time is T&T. So I def get the appeal of old stuff.
Yeah, I got through periods where I'm "over" OSR stuff but I always come back to it.

Not as my sole jam, I've never been like that with RPGs.

But the OSR is always there... beckoning
And it has also occurred to me that regardless of how enlightened I try to be, I (along with the Zwei guy) are a couple of straight white dudes lol.

A lifetime of that doesn't go away overnight.

And I used to be a lot more of a dickhead. I'm workin' on it.
Also a good way to put it. Me, I'm an old fart who has a like/hate relationship to the OSR, and the hate part is because I can't stand the regressive dickheads.
There's a French WFRP-descended game called Brygandine that I really, really, would love to see translated into English
That's a great way to put it. But yeah.
WRT Zweihander, I think it has a lot going for it, mainly as a more consistent and slightly less fiddly (but still kinda fiddly) WFRP clone.

The new edition moves away from WFRP a bit more. I'm still playing the OG tho.
Yeah I think I get you. I hope I'm not beating a dead horse, and Im not certainly not trying to be combative.

I'd place you on the list of respected creators as well, fwiw.
But yeah that's not a popular opinion and he seems to have united left and right in not liking him lol
I find him sincere, and I think he gets out ahead of his skis sometimes.

A lot of leftists consider him to be kind of a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm not gonna judge or devalue their opinions.

I have my experiences with him.m, whixh have been uniformly positive . But that's just me.
And it's also not my place to judge the value of other people's issues with him. I don't have the right to say especially, in the case of marginalized people who may have issues with him.
But I'm cool with him. Like I said, I do absolutely get some of the complaints.
My honest take is that a lot of gripes about him are legit but some are based on misunderstandings or false info.

I've spent some time defending him and his game, whixh I don't regret. He admits he's made some mistakes. And some people who don't like him are people I respect. Daniel Sell, frex.
Ah, that makes sense. Zweihander is born of WFRP2, but aims for a more consistent system that uses bounded accuracy.

I feel like it mostly succeeds, As with anything else, it has a few issues.

I've read it cover to cover, and honestly I use it for WFRP stuff becaise I like it, but also, I...
...but we've corresponded. Talked on the phone, etc.
Zweihander is a cool system, IMO. It can be a bit fiddly. Overall, I find it streamlined and consistent in its rules and logic compared to WFRP.

I know a lot of folks have am issue with the author, and I don't begrudge them that. But he and I get along.

I mean, we don’t know each other IRL...
I've never played WFRP, though I have several books.

So, Zwei doesn't really have "crits." Basically, each step on the damage track has you roll 0-3 Chaos dice. Each "6" is an injury. Level of damage=Level of Injury. This is a "Greivous Injury."

I actually dig the Damage Tracks.
I'm currently 2 years deep in a Zweihander campaign. Running a fan-made WFRP1 adventure, A Private War.

One of my players (two, actually) used to work for GW. He was the first person in the US to have a copy of WFRP. He still has the book.
