A recent convo here reminded me how much fun Big Bang Comics are. An affectionate send-up of classic DC (mostly). Their Batman expy, Knight Watchman, has a rather flamboyant nemesis (and Joker stand-in) called The Pink Flamingo.

A testament to what can be done with the comics medium. I was never a huge fan of Thor, but this run drew me in and kept me reading. Sometimes, it isn't the character that doesn't grab you, it's the craft. Simonson is a master.

Re-read this run recently. Sure, it's aged some, but it holds up. Excellent comic.

Today is World AIDS day. I remember seeing the AIDS memorial quilt in Phoenix, decades ago. There was so much loss, grief, perseverance, and even joy on display. I was crying immediately. A volunteer asked me if I'd lost anyone, and I felt foolish saying no.
