The poster formerly known as Some Dude (name was taken on BlueSky). I post about roleplaying games, politics, genre films, comic books, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Destroy all grognards. Antifascist, antiracist. FCK NZS. AI=GTFO.
This is how I felt about the lost original cut of George Romero's "Martin" being bought by some rich a-hole who apparently doesn't want to see it released.

I just want one - ONE - Bond film starring Scott Adkins. Would he be the best Bond? No. But he darn sure wouldn't be the worst, we're due for a Lazenby-esque one-off, and the fight scenes would be the shizz.

Sounds like I need to bump it to the top of the watchlist, then! I love Revanchist!

Fair enough, I do tend toward the overly pessimistic these days.

To be clear, I am absolutely not saying that America wasn't very racist back then. Or isn't today.

There are so many business I faithfully patronize, not because they're closest, or cheapest, but because they're the friendliest. From pharmacies to comic shops.

Fair point, but later in his career, Lovecraft said in correspondence that people would be appalled at his racist writings (not his fiction, but poetry, articles in racist newsletters, etc.). So, he at least assumed that such writings wouldn't have been acceptable, even then.

This is why I hate it when people try to whitewash Howard or Lovecraft (both of whose works I enjoy) as mere products of their time. No, even by the standards of the day, they were bigots. Do you know how racist you had to be as a white man in the 1920s to pull that off? Pretty f**king racist.

Also, when they employ married couples, they only pay the man. Source: my mom worked for them for years.

It's definitely worth a watch. I can't explain it, but it seems like it'd be a good movie to watch during the day with the shades drawn, when you've called out sick from work.
