First snow, woo-hoo! Here's the Mission Ridge webcam this AM. We've finally gotten a real fall storm, what they call 'an end of season weather event' which should be enough to douse the wildfires still burning in the mountains. Our air quality is already much improved. We love winter here, bring it!

A storm rolled through later that night, hitting us with strong winds and light rain, but our tents held up and we stayed dry. Next morning was cloudy but the threat of rain had passed, and we had nice weather for the hike back out.

We did a 3-day backpacking trip in the North Cascade mountains last week, & had a great time. Here's the full moon rising Tuesday evening, with golden-colored Larch trees in the foreground, as viewed from our campsite at Cutthroat Pass.

We've had 2 persistent wildfires burning up in the Central Cascade mountains, which together have burned over 78,000 acres since 9/1. Our air quality in the valley varies daily with the wind direction; yesterday was nice but today it's bad again. We could really use some rain.

That piece might not plane well (looks like end-grain). I'd maybe smooth it with a sander first or if you need it really level, make a basic leveling jig to use with a router.
