Fascinating thread here

Northeast Ohio breweries have had remarkable award success for Hefeweizens. Since 2019, a NE Ohio Hefeweizen has won at at least one of the two BA comps, for a total of 9 medals from 3 different breweries. 7 of those are golds, and there's been at least one gold each year.

H Street brewpub/wine bar Henceforth is cutting their hours due to **everything** (opening 1 hour later on Mon/Tue, 5 hours later on Wed-Sat, closing several hours earlier Sunday).

(Have to think slower Sat and Sun has something to do w/ headstrong decision not to have any TVs)

Everything in that screenshot is correct and we share Barred’s skepticism about any potential fixes. That’s also probably the only part of the article worth reading.

Succinct encapsulation about why craft beer has hit a declining plateau. Though I’m skeptical that addressing some of the issues identified will work to reverse (glut of IPAs, unclear labels/beer names, going back to 12 oz 6 packs vs 16 oz 4 packs)

Root + Branch's fresh hop w/Citra and Comet was my favorite but everything was great as always. not too crowded, the few lines moved quickly, and we were more than sated by 2 PM. the addition of a coffee truck and record shop was nice too - they know their audience

How did everyone make out yesterday?

Snallygaster 2025 was an excellent time — and a vastly better-than-usual use of that stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue. I mostly made myself a fresh-hop festival-within-a-festival (thanks to @dcbeer.com's helpful list), with various dark and wild and dead-straight-lager things filling in the gaps.
A Snallygaster branded taster glass of reddish-orange beer (a mixed ferment from Allagash) on the road on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of a large square Snallygaster sign, blurrily visible in the background A branded Snallygaster taster glass of foamy and hazy pale golden beer held up in one hand with the columned North face of the National Gallery Of Art blurrily visible in the background behind a white awning A Snallygaster branded taster glass half filled with dark beer (either Dupont Stout or De La Senne Brett Porter, I honestly can't recall) held up in front of a crowd of people on Pennsylvania Avenue. The Capitol dome looms in the blurry background A branded Snallygaster taster glass on the road, filled most of the way up with slightly hazy golden beer (from Fast Fashion, if memory serves). It's under a lamppost, police car lights are blurrily visible in the background, as is the white dome of the Capitol

FWIW, one of the co-owners was at Snally yesterday, maybe investigating some draft options.

Brookland Pint ultimately could not keep this many beers on tap. 25 is among the most in the city. Maybe they know something about the demand for beer in Brookland that we don’t, or maybe a few of those will have wine/cocktails on.

Snally intel: There are 2 cases of Perennial Barrel Aged Abraxas stout. That will be the first beer to kick. Queue up there first if it’s on your list because it might not last 30-45 minutes.
