And smoothness comes from a few different things: Slow in and outs, Arcs, and Timing. You need the right amount of motion showing for the amount of time you set it.

It's something you can improve just by observing and fixing

Here I take a rigid ball and turn it squishy, squashing it when it moves a lot but maintaining it's volume so it feels like the same ball

The principle behind how to make things look soft is squash and stretch. A tip from me is that the better you are at maintaining the volume of something between frames the easier it becomes to 'feel' it's weight once you play the animation
