We're close to the world's first-ever broad-spectrum antiviral. In a breakthrough, researchers at the City University of New York have identified a promising path to the development of an antiviral that could be used to fight a wide range of deadly viruses, including future pandemic threats.

I worked with @stevenguilbeault.bsky.social starting when I was a new Minister working hard to tackle climate change & build an economy that positioned Canada to win the energy transition. He gets it. He has worked with integrity his entire career & will continue.
He is the best of politics. 🙏

I did like how in the past the weather was predictable, agriculture was steady and the country didn't burn down every summer.

Scientists must learn to join larger pro-democracy and people's movements, coalitions. Our science training may not have prepared us for such work, but we can no longer sit in the safety of our labs and expect the world to get better

Yesterday, I attended the Commemoration on the Hill honouring the 14 young women whose lives were taken at Polytechnique Montréal 36 years ago.

We say their names. We honour their lives. We reaffirm our shared commitment to ending gender-based violence.

RIP. Such an unnecessary death of this young soul, so Trump could play dictator with a nonsensical charade in DC. Sarah and her fellow WV National Guard troopers should have been home enjoying Thanksgiving.

CBC is digging into the Carney–Smith pipeline deal. One million barrels a day and a lot of political theatre. CBC is asking the real question: climate impact.

Is this a step forward, or just the same old pieces rearranged while we ignore the environmental cost?

I participated on the Northern Gateway pipeline review, back in 2011.

I was asked to limit the scope of my review to just ten pages of a two thousand page document.

I refused those terms.

I concluded that the entire document did not conform to the ISO specifications for a risk assessment.
