Will the next five to ten years bring the transformation we have long sought? I am cautiously optimistic. We seem closer than ever.

Had a long overdue physical today. Asked my GP about recent impacts on health care. He said the biggest is that in 2 mos Medicare will no longer pay for virtual visits (had not heard this). He fears the negative impact this will have on senior & rural patients. Suspect disparities will ⬆️.
That's a lot of variation in health care spending.

Changing your mind doesn't always mean you've abandoned your principles. It often means you've learned something.

It's better to contradict yourself and be accused of hypocrisy than to stick to your guns and sacrifice your values.

The hallmark of integrity is not consistency. It's honesty.

Yesterday, two of my healthcare heroes passed away – both brilliant, insightful & very funny.
Jim Reason, the UK psychologist whose "Swiss cheese model" helped define the field of patient safety;
And Ian Morrison, the Scottish futurist who explained healthcare with unmatched wit & wisdom.
RIP.

'DEI' might be a blip in history—but the value of diversity and inclusion will persist
With diversity, equity, and inclusion under attack, those already in the room should stay there, writes Tracy Chou.

I’m repeatedly being asked “how inflationary will tariffs be?”
Unlike others who say “very” or “not at all,” I don’t know for sure.
This is not because I don’t want to commit.
It’s because there are several factors in play that translate not just into genuine analytical uncertainty but also into…

Toxic positivity is pressuring people to look on the bright side. They have to suppress anxiety, anger, sadness, and grief.

Healthy support is shielding people from the dark side. You invite them to express their pain, and show them they're not alone and won't feel it forever.
