Impressive November the 1st skies down at the beach with the dog. A good little hike, the sea was whipping up a foam and the light moving up and down the channel like the waves.

Bit of a stunner last night, timed the dusk dog walks to perfection and was treated to glorious views. #sunset #wales

Rhiannon in Pwyll, Prince of Dyfed really said:
“Let me humiliate this man in a magic bag so I can marry the other one.”

Welsh myth doesn’t play.

"Blodeuwedd"

Oil Paints

In Welsh mythology, she was conjured from broom, meadowsweet, & oak blossoms by magicians, as a bride for Lleu Llaw Gyffes. I wanted to depict a being caught between the wild magic of her floral origins & the solidness of her human form #oilpaint #art #welshart #mabinogion

“Thinking About You Fondly”

Pencils

The starting point was an antique CDV portrait that I developed in a sketchbook piece. I’m undecided if she’s creating a being with her hair, or dismantling him. Either way, for me, it’s a piece steeped in desire, longing and resignation. #art #pencilart #wales

This is "The Thames at Cookham" by Walter Steggles from 1931. It was the oil painting from which a Shell poster of the same title was derived in the same year. #WalterSteggles #Cookham #EastLondonGroup

The Mari Morgen are mischievous water spirits from Welsh & Breton folklore. They could be both alluring and deadly, and likened to mermaids without tails. Their ability to manipulate water would often see them blamed for floods and heavy rain. #FolkloreThursday - Art: Mari Morgen Startles A Heron

Whenever I drop something or knock something over that leaves a big mess on the floor, I look straight up and open my arms like I'm Neil Buchanan finishing a Big Art Attack.

“Blodeuwedd”

Oil on canvas board

Inspired by the old Welsh tale of Blodeuwedd, the magical maiden created from flowers and later transformed into an owl. This was very much based around the initial stages of her life. It’s finished, but will need a coat of varnish.

The most enigmatic Welsh monster is the gwyllion (the "twilight wanderer"). Some say it's a fairy hag who leads travelers astray, others say that it's a ghost or a wandering lunatic. Merlin learned prophecy from gwyllions he met as he himself wandered insane in the forest.

“Thinking Of You Fondly…” Sketchbook piece that sort of came to life in the initial drawing. Opened a load of new photo purchases on my TikTok live earlier today, then choose one to do an off-the-cuff drawing from. This was the result.

Working in the sketchbook as it’s as much as I can commit at the moment. Have a few ideas on the go for future development. This one’s called An Exchange, Of Sorts, and is a nod to the old Tylwyth Teg and their mischievous ways. #art #sketch #fairylore #tylwythteg #welshart #wales

I had a near-death experience a few years ago. I blacked out and saw angels, stars and the face of God before I came round again. I can't tell anyone the full story though, which is that I was straining too hard to expel a stubborn turd at the time.

Quite chuffed with these photos my daughter took of me in the gallery. She's doing GCSE photography, so I thought it would be good to put her through her paces. Needed to get some shots for the new website that's on its way. Even had me hair cut and shaved especially... 😂 #artist #art #artgallery

The unusual burial chamber at Lligwy, #Anglesey, was once the HQ of a #witch. Thrown off a ship for some mischief or other, a fisherman rescued her and she asked him to take her to the cromlech. There she gave him a charm made of snakeskin which brought him good luck all his life.
