"The Cave" feels oddly fairytale esque, less so in the matter of the fantasy aesthetics and more in the quality of the storytelling. It has the kind of setup reminiscent of a moral parable, and that ending felt very "classic fairytale" esque.

Pardon my language, but holy shit "Frozen" is genuinely an amazing short story and the best out of the "100 Horrors" series so far. I won't go into extensive detail, just know that if you have to read one story in this series, this is the one.

"Life Bomb" is a little obtuse for me to read. I'm not entirely understanding of the material, interpreting it as being essentially a rocket whose propulsion force comes from the destruction of living organisms. If so, it's quite horrific.

"Coming Soon: Emptiness" gives a very brief snapshot of apocalyptic happenings and gets out very quickly. It reminds me of The Sandman's "24 hours" story, this open window to a world gone to hell but not the full picture of what's gone wrong.

I developed a delayed appreciation for "The Maiden of Crete." It took a minute, but I've come to like how densely this one page story manages to fill itself out with interesting and eerie implications with short descriptions.

"The Dictator's Dream" is the first really great of these 100 Horrors stories. It feels very Twilight Zone/Outer Limits-esque in how the surreal, abstract subject matter holds heavy social commentary. It's great, really.

While "Jack O' Fingers" is a fun, concise and freakish little horror concept, I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility that Paul Chadwick was trying to do like a morbid parody of Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin.

I hate to keep saying "in a good way" but I mean it when I say there's a juvenile quality to the story with visuals that feel dreamed out of a kid's imagination. It's very appropriate that it ends with the implication that it was all a student's daydreaming. Fun little tale all around. 🧵 End.
