#Cavs unveiled their Classic Edition uniforms this morning and the floor that will go with it. They'll be worn in eight home games and three away games this season (including Christmas!).

Absolute perfection. 10/10. No notes.

Lonzo Ball had nine points and nine assists in 20 minutes last night in the preseason finale. Those type of nights off the bench is could make him one of the most impactful bench players in basketball. open.substack.com/pub/theinsid...
Preseason Observations: The Rotation, Lonzo Ball's Impact and Injury Updates
Where were you the last time the Cavs won a preseason game against an NBA team?

#Cavs beat the Pistons 118-100 in the preseason finale for their first preseason win vs. an NBA team since Oct. 12, 2022.

They'll play again for real next Wednesday on the road against the New York Knicks.

If Lonzo Ball can stay healthy for the #Cavs he's going to be a tremendous help. He's got eight assists in 17 minutes so far tonight. Easily the best he's looked this preseason.

#Cavs say De'Andre Hunter has a right knee contusion and will not return.

#Cavs lead some of the Pistons 62-57 in what has been a turnover fest so far. Cavs have forced 15 Detroit turnovers but have turned it over 14 times themselves.

Donovan Mitchell leads all scorers with 15 points, De'Andre Hunter has 14. Cavs are also 8-of-16 from deep.

Thought that was easily the best we've seen from Lonzo Ball in the preseason. In seven first quarter minutes he had four points, five assists, three rebounds, a steal and a block. Was a big boost off the bench.

#Cavs lead some of the Pistons 42-31 after the first quarter in the preseason finale. Donovan Mitchell had 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting. De'Andre Hunter had eight points and got to the line five times.

Two quick assists for Lonzo Ball in his first stint. First one was to Merrill on a 3-pointer while the second one came after a nice defensive stop and leading the break to Dean Wade.

#Cavs are starting Donovan Mitchell, Sam Merrill, De'Andre Hunter, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen tonight against the Pistons.

The lineup that I would expect to be the starting group on opening night is getting its first run together.

Kenny Atkinson said that Darius Garland went through a little bit of 5-on-5 after shootaround today with the stay ready group.

Definitely a positive sign in his recovery process, but how he responds to it will be important.

Kenny Atkinson says tonight’s game will be a little bit of a dress rehearsal. Wants to simulate as much of a regular game as possible.

Sam Merrill says he will play tonight in the #Cavs preseason finale. He hasn’t played yet this preseason due to an abductor injury.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 4.5-point favorites tonight at home against the Detroit Pistons in their final preseason contest.

I think it would be a good thing for Dean Wade to cut a little bit more this year. He was in the 81st percentile in points per possession on cuts (1.46) last season according to Synergy. He was in the 31st percentile in frequency, though.

#Cavs will be starting Craig Porter Jr., Tyrese Porto’s, Jaylon Tyson, Dean Wade and Larry Nance Jr. tonight against the Boston Celtics.

Night off for several of the main guys.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 1.5-point underdogs tonight on the road against the Boston Celtics in preseason action.

Thought one of the most interesting things to come out of last night was Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen subbing out together in the first quarter. I wrote about why that could be awesome for Evan Mobley's growth. open.substack.com/pub/theinsid...
Preseason Observations: Fun With Lineups and Value of Continuity
The Cavs lost to the Bulls on Thursday night and that doesn't matter even a little bit!

Went into training camp feeling pretty strongly that De'Andre Hunter was going to have an awesome season for the #Cavs and his first two preseason games have only amplified that thought.
dannycunningham.bsky.social
Thought that was a relatively sloppy half of basketball from the #Cavs. The start was solid, but didn't think they ever found a flow offensively after the first run from the starters.
dannycunningham.bsky.social
Don't want to read *too* much into preseason rotations, but I think it's just worth noting that Mobley and Mitchell did not check out together.

Last season they were pretty much tied at the hip in first halves.

Very minor niche/aesthetics thing, but it's interesting to see the #Cavs with black accessories (headbands, socks) with their wine uniforms. Had been same color as the uniforms last year.

The #Cavs are sticking with the same starting five tonight in Chicago: Donovan Mitchell, Jaylon Tyson, De'Andre Hunter, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
