Thought I was safe from having to endure HFR and constantly-switching frame rates in the new Avatar, having booked tickets for a regular, no-frills movie screen. But as soon as the Fox logo kicked in, I knew that I had made a mistake. HFR makes everything look like old camcorder footage to my eyes.

G. Willow Wilson's current run writing POISON IVY for DC will go down as one of the all-timer modern DC Comics sagas. I just read the new annual, with art by Fables' Mark Buckingham, and wow - what a great story and what amazing art to boot (made me miss Fables!). Read this book if you haven't yet!

Oh wow. This week's PLURIBUS. Maybe the best yet? It gave me that old Breaking Bad feeling of the walls closing in and all hell being about to break loose. Rhea Sheehorn has obviously been incredible thus far, but man, this week was a real showcase for Karolina Wydra as Zosia. Give her an Emmy, too!

Making it a James Cameron weekend - and watched the original Terminator for the first time ever! Crazy, I know. Especially since I love T2 and have seen every other Terminator movie. Happy to have corrected this glaring hole in my movie viewing.

The recent episode of THE TOWN with Elizabeth Warren is one of the best discussions / debates I've heard in a while. Matt Belloni really presses Warren on the pragmatism of her positions on a WB acquisition by Netflix or Paramount, and Warren intelligently and passionately responds. A great listen.

Oh wow - Ryan North writing The Flash has the potential to be an all-timer run. His work on Fantastic Four is some of the best superhero/sci-fi comics writing I've seen in years.
North & Guidry on THE FLASH, Brombal & Basri on NEW TITANS beginning in March

The new creative teams will take the two titles into Act 2 of DC's All In initiative.

I’ve said it before but MJF deserves a damn Emmy for his promos.

I am old enough to remember actually being interested in presidential addresses, because I was curious to hear how the President was going to address issues of deep concern, and hear what plans they had to make our country better. That seems like a lifetime ago.

If you haven't seen it yet, I'd definitely recommend giving this year's Spinal Tap II: The End Continues a watch. Of course it can't live up to the iconic original, but I thought it was a fun gem of a comedy with some very funny moments and some unexpected heart. Glad Rob Reiner and co made it.

Wow, NO OTHER CHOICE is another absolutely brilliant film from the great Park Chan-wook - surely one of the very best movies of 2025. Gripping. Visually stunning. Anchored by an Oscar-worthy turn from Squid Game's Lee Byung-hun. And filled with searing, darkly hilarious social commentary to boot.

I keep thinking about The Princess Bride. Sometimes when everyone loves a movie it can feel annoying, cliche. But not in this case. The movie is that good, that timeless, that special. A lot of that is William Goldman's script, sure. But Rob Reiner turned that script into absolute movie magic.

Think about what kind of unhinged maniac would post this. Think about that person actually being President of the United States.
this is one of the most psychotic things Trump has ever posted

Devastating news re: Rob Reiner. So many stories about him being a real mensch, it’s hard to understand how anyone could do this. His movies had an enormous influence on so many of us - The Princess Bride and Spinal Tap fundamentally informed my creativity and sense of humor. Today is a dark day.

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

Horrific. I think we can all come together in condemning this disgusting, evil act of antisemitic violence.
Bondi Beach shooting: Australian officials say the 15 people killed in the antisemitic attack range from 10 to 87 years old, and the two shooters were father and son.

Saw STEREOPHONIC at the Pantages tonight. If you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall while Fleetwood Mac recorded Rumours, then this is the show for you. It’s a long show, but very unique and immersive, and filled with some really great 70’s-era esque rock tracks in the style of Fleetwood Mac.

DUST BUNNY - the pacing/structure didn't totally work for me ... but I really admired its originality. And as a huge Pushing Daisies fan, I couldn't help but smile whenever Bryan Fuller's film gave us a bit of whimsical humor or hyper-imaginative visual flourish that reminded me of that show.

Starting up The Game Awards. Recently started playing Clair Obscur and really digging it so far, so loved seeing the music from the game performed at the show. Epic!

The long term implications of this …

I’m sure they were fully and reasonably thought through by all involved, right?
