100-fucking-percent this. Maybe it won’t be enough, but the wailing about verification without even doing this as a first step is maddening.
I don’t know, I think a pretty big proportion of the folks with a genuinely pressing risk of impersonation have either a personal or institutional domain available to validate their identity. The main categories are “actual celebrity” and “professional link to a publication or company.”
This was mostly a joke but I do think the verification system is not a reasonable option for most people and it seems like it's becoming a significant problem

Free advice nobody asked for: Starter Packs should have no more than 10-15 people in them. 50-100 people isn’t “starter”, it’s “drown out everyone the user already chose to follow”.

I realize it's a bad idea because engaging gives it even a bit of legitimacy, but it would be hilarious if Biden opened the debate by putting to specimen cups on his podium and said "Soon as we're done, let's both go give samples and see who is on drugs. Same bathroom, no cheating, Mushroom dick."

Honestly, there shouldn't be press coverage allowed for jury selection. There's no real public value to "Y was excused for cause, made an AI video of Trump" or "Z was seated after credible explanation they can be objective". Any coverage just opens up jurors to being IDed.

I didn't watch Britt's response, but from all comments it sure sounds like she was speaking like a woman whose drunk, abusive husband was passed out on the couch and she was afraid of waking him up. Which, honestly, is a pretty relatable angle for republican women.
