Senate Dems could at any moment choose to remove him from leadership, but every day they choose stasis and complacency instead.

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead

Not a real opposition party.

Nancy Pelosi declined to seek war crimes charges for Bush admin criminals, and she had to be pushed to impeach Donald Trump. Meanwhile, she made tens of millions of dollars on insider stock trades. I’d celebrate her departure if her seat weren’t being filled by her nepo baby daughter.

Democrats aren’t screaming 24/7 about the fascist GOP’s refusal to seat a duly elected representative in Congress.

You’d be hard-pressed to concoct a better metaphor for America in 2025 than Trump lying about his ballroom and tearing apart the White House in broad daylight while Democrats do absolutely nothing in response.

This is the stuff we need way more of: simple, non-violent acts of refusal to submit to fascism.

They could have perp walked Trump, multiple times, for multiple offenses. They could have convicted him in the Senate, as a bipartisan majority of senators voted to do. When you decide not to pursue justice, this is the result.
New reporting from MSNBC and @kendilanian-nbc.bsky.social: A source familiar with the matter confirms an FBI agent in the Washington field office has been fired for refusing to arrest and perp walk James Comey. Comey is being allowed to surrender for booking at his arraignment next week

On February 13, 2016 I sounded the alarm on our democracy. That’s when Mitch McConnell said he wouldn’t let Obama replace Scalia and the Democrats didn’t immediately treat it like the constitutional crisis it was.
Nobody listened, but I was right.

Sustained mass protest is and has always been our only way out of this. I’m talking about tens of millions in the streets, sweeping general strikes, and so on. Every day we count on the Democratic Party to save us from fascism is a day we will slip further into fascism.

Never forget how fast the Democratic Congress passed an emergency spending bill to increase security at Supreme Court justices' homes after peaceful protests outside.

We stand on the precipice of fascism. The Republican Party is dead serious about one-party fascist rule, and the Democratic Party is dead serious about not really trying to stop them. Any chance we have of escaping fascism is entirely on us.
