Travelling by train between #Sicily 🇮🇹 and mainland #Italy includes a #ferry crossing, one of the highlights of the trip. The carriages are loaded on the ship. During the sailing, passengers can enjoy some fresh air on the upper decks and try out the famous #Arancini from the ship’s buffet.
Sure, there may be a point in attacking bottlenecks if one could find them. E.g. centre wing box manufacturing is likely not done in so many locations but it will take time for such a strike to have. Likely years and workarounds can be found in this time.
The idea would not be to hit the airfields themselves but rather key aircraft AEW, bombers etc or strategic munitions stocks like cruise missiles.
Factories seems too large and dispersed, it would require 100s of missiles to make a large dent in the capabilities.
As Arthur Herman puts it in the heritage article you linked:
“All you had to do was put in the orders, finance the plant expansion, then stand back and let things happen.”
So yes, you would have to provide finance for the expansion.
High case 30x90=2700 missiles in inventory. Low case if mid-life refurbishment to new standard are also considered in the production numbers 15x55=825missiles
Well, it would require them to buy more.. those rates do not even sustain the current inventory with shelf lifes of 15-30y depending on how it is interpreted so they must have produced more in the past.
Ok, modernization to block V may be the entire inventory. That's not realistic then but say half should be possible.
The capacity freed up when not needing to refurbish to block V can be used for new production instead.
Yes, it would require the US to play along and not ask too stiff a price and like there will be some more cost for launchers and ancillary equipment but I think 4000 Tomahawks would make an appreciable impact in the war.
But even though buying weapons of the US isn't really the way to go to support Ukraine on a large scale I think this would be a good idea.
One could perhaps buy the ~4000 Tomahawks slated for modernisation to block V standard for say 1M a piece. 4B is just a few percent of the EU budget.
My guess would be targets would be military airfields, electricity infrastructure and just maybe critical transport infrastructure.
Most of the rest seems too hardened, too numerous, too hard to find or equally vulnerable to other weapons to be suited.

The experimental Carro Armato M 13 was shown in Rome #OTD in 1939. This tank would kick off a family of tanks that would be built into 1944, even after Italy exited the war and was occupied by Germany. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

🇫🇷 Macron told his cabinet that censure motions are dissolution motions. In other words, there will be elections if Lecornu is toppled. Far right & hard left have already tabled censure votes on Thurs. Socialists say they will table their own if Lecornu does not give way today when he speaks at 3pm
I am actually even more annoyed by the delay then the cost overruns. I doubt the boat would look like this if designed today.
I think a smaller boat with a focus of anti shipping would have been a better choice today.
As much as like the Swedish subbuilding capability this investment is sensible only if the intention is to build subs continuously.
Recurrent pricing is likely not to far off from a 212 but the nonrecurring is unsustainable if only two boats are built.
Och när det gäller tullare i Skåne var detta så klart min första tanke..
Jag märkte det på mig själv när vi Finland i somras..
It is not so unusual. Crews have been that size since the 60s.

Germany is finding creative ways to get retirees to re-join the workforce.

France looks like it will scrap a much-needed increase of the retirement age from 62 to 64.

Crazy if this would work.
