I’m Daniel. I’m a postulant (priest-in-training) from the Episcopal Diocese of New York and I’m at seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.

It’s always important to discern the Body of Christ but if hangups about your own individual conduct frequently prevent you from communing with your worshiping community then you’re sort of missing the point of communion.

The peace is an essential element of the rite but we need better teaching around what it is. We’re following Paul’s instruction to greet with a holy kiss, and Jesus’ to reconcile to our siblings before making an offering.
It’s not a half-time chinwag or coffee hour part 1, which I see often.

Just wrapped up a paper (which I wish I could make into a thesis) on The Episcopal Church dropping the requirement for confirmation to receive communion.
My research made me sad that we didn't adopt the recommendations for Prayer Book Studies 18 to unify baptism, laying of hands & eucharist. 📕
