By changing only a single byte in the code of Mario Paint, the music composer will not stop at the end of the song and instead continue to play the entire contents of the console's memory as music.

when you win the argument about whether or not decorated pottery is a highlight of Meroitic art

I think people are good with it now, but I remember thinking a lot of folks seemed to be encountering that word for the first time back in the 90s haha

It's my classic catchphrase, "I don't mind taking it easy until then"
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter screenshot where a character named Bruno is saying "I don't mind taking it easy until then."

I watched a documentary about Miles Davis and the best part was all of the interviewees trying to imitate his voice. You’re not allowed to quote Miles Davis without a rasp

Feel like there are too many games to play? Just sit tight for a little while and the industry will solve that problem for you 🫠

The Super Mario 64 source code lists names for Mario's footstep sounds. The list starts off normal but becomes poetic with names like "Footsteps in the Fallen Leaves" and "More Than Anyone Else in the World". It turns out the names are actually taken from a 1994 dating simulator.

Dear Esther should have a big head mode cheat that moves the camera up by a few centimeters

Love seeing the Trails in the Sky remake tearing up the sales charts 🥲 As of this writing, Steam has it #9 globally and at least in the top ten on a bunch of the country-specific lists

you: what are we having for dinner
game designer: great question. i wrote some pillars to help us align on a good outcome here.
you, reading: wait, this pillar is just "food must be edible," that seems pretty vague
game designer: ah, that's where the secondary pillars about Edibility come into play

You're probably right to skip then 😅 There's a mechanic in a few Trails games where you have to 'scan' (not just beat!) every single enemy to 100% your little catalog, and I missed one that was, like, an add during a boss fight. This series can be a certain kind of completionist's nightmare haha

Those things are still missable in the remake, but they all seem to be signposted now. The minimap and UI will dim for NPCs who are out of dialogue, and based on the prologue they've marked the other missables with quest markers as well. So if you keep your eyes peeled you can get them at least?

THE QUESTION I WAS BORN TO ANSWER

If you want to see _everything_, then yeah, shitload of missables. Most NPCs have new dialogue whenever you advance the story; depending on your perspective that's either inconsequential or a main appeal of the game. There are missable collectibles and quests too

I hate iOS 26 so much that I want to use it less, which I guess counts as Sherlocking those apps that try to limit your time-wasting on social media

I assume this video is about the music but I like to think he's just pumped to finally learn about conjunctions
YouTube video called "I Finally Discovered Schoolhouse Rock. It's INCREDIBLE." "HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS??" demands the thumbnail art
