Full shade, Lightcycle design peaked in the first film. While the white one in Legacy is acceptable, maybe the sequel versions might look good on-screen, the shape just keeps getting “lost” in new designs. Maybe that’s why there’s no toys (yet?) for the new one?

Also, Legacy has not _nearly_ as many musical callbacks as Ares…significant joy hearing the original themes sprinkled throughout TRO/NIN. Daft Punk drops a banger during the club fight theme, but not much else throwing it back for continuity. Maybe heavily deconstructed? Regardless, vibes for days.

Back to Tron: Legacy tonight…I guess that’s where all of the plot line(s) that were missing from Ares landed…is it spicy to say I liked the new one better? Legacy has style for days, but there’s too much expose, “games” feel contrived, and digital Flynn is still a firm “nope”. Whelp, all good fun!

I could take or leave the Tron sequels, they’re a fun extension of the original world building. HOWEVER, the soundtracks for each of them have been consistently excellent. Hearing the vision of Wendy Carlos iterated on, well, her themes are so strong! ✨💪 ✨

I’ve had those too-loud experiences, it can be rough! Seeing The Substance with volume-on-the-edge-of-pain was both annoying and (somehow) appropriate. We left the theater for Rogue One because it was loud and clipping. When it works though, the vibrations are worth it!

I saw Tron: Ares in IMAX 3D ATMOS and enjoyed the ride. Expectations were low, but was dazzled by reinterpretations of the original. 3D visuals were startlingly good at times, and loud af TRO/NIN + inventive sound effects didn’t disappoint. Story? Well, when you get FlynnLebowski…why complain?

Looking back at workflows/sentiments/challenges faced by a team bridging film paradigms that have become accepted, assumed, and (largely) taken for granted, I wonder what will be created tomorrow, at the current intersection of technology/ creativity, that will resonate with someone in the same way?

For context: I was there when the original Tron launched, 7 years old and perfectly aligned culturally: computers, video games, action figures, movies. The confluence was VERY strong and still resonates with me today.
