I adored Learning to Love. Thoughtfully directed and beautifully performed, this show has impressive depths. #LearningtoLove explores many important issues – including society's ignorance re neurodiversity, transactional relationships, prejudice and social barriers. I didn't want it to end! #jdrama

At least there was a kiss when he was still in his girl gear and the makeup was still on point to the end

So I guess you could say it's a private message board

I don't know if you're familiar with Slack but it's very similar in how you use it. People create a Discord server & then there's channels for different topics. You have to sign up for a Discord account, you don't have to download the app because you can use a browser on your phone.

This is honestly such a sweet drama and I really like how gently it deals with the male lead's gender fluid identity. It's on Netflix and the episodes are short so you can easily binge it. #jdrama

Both main actors delivered a touching story of growth & sweet chemistry 💕
I loved message behind and felt very thankful for the unwavering validation of humans how and who they are. I didn't really care for both side characters.
Thanks for the positive mother figure😍

I liked that they didn't make big drama out of his cross-dressing, people were surprised and then they just kind of shrugged and moved on. The thing with the father took about 2.5 seconds. So it was really about the two of them learning to accept themselves and grow their self-confidence.

Also Korean women are staging their own version of Lysistrata which has led to the cratering birth rate. The same is happening in Japan which is about 30 years ahead of Korea in the population implosion.

Women in Korea struggle to this day with oppressive social norms rooted in neo confucianism. I have a theory that the reason kdramas are so popular is because Korean women are channeling their frustration into fiction and the emotional intensity reflects their unfair and unequal lived experiences.

This has to be understood in the context of neo confucianism, which took Chinese confucianist philosophy to an extreme that didn't exist in China itself. If you're interested in diving into Korean culture you absolutely need to learn about neo confucianism #kdrama

I found a fascinating Reddit post detailing the oppression of women in the Joseon era. Most sageuk dramas 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 accurately depict living conditions for women. Upper class women almost never left their homes and were confined to an inner dwelling. Poor women were subjected to continual SA #kdrama

There's so many dramas that don't entertain me at all so if I was entertained for like 80 to 90% of the drama run time then I'm usually cool with it. There's a few exceptions like Behind Your Touch and Because This is My First Life which both really pissed me off in the end

Since I know the general outline of what's going to happen, I'm just curious about how they get there and whether it makes sense or if the ending fell out of the sky like an anvil like on the hearts of the audience. Also I'm not someone who necessarily hates dramas because of bad endings

Though honestly I don't really blame the actors, they're just trying to get jobs, it's the public's demands for perfection that's really driving this and that sucks. Nobody wants a freeze frame of their face in a drama becoming a meme. #kdrama
daebakpodcast.bsky.social
A trend I noticed is instead of completely botoxing their foreheads, they are allowing the muscles between the brows to move so they can be more expressive. It still looks weird but it's a little better. Maybe we'll have like a retro trend and actors will allow their faces to move again+ #kdrama

It's a Kim Eun Sook drama so I doubt it very much 🥲

😭😭😭 I won't be able to stop myself but I know it's going to piss me off
