A big part of the story here is that women like Renee Good are braver and stronger than they could have ever imagined and that just doesn't fit with what MAGA men tell themselves about how gender works. It just does not compute.

I mourn as much for the people who’ve died in ICE custody as Alex and Renee. They’re all horrific. What’s really chilling is we don’t have have eyes on the nightmare conditions people incl kids are being held in. This all has to come out and they have to be held to maximum account.

Something Trump never counted on was how many people were going to become well-versed in politics who never really paid much attention before. I’m guilty of knowing who I needed to vote for in my state and which president I wanted to vote for but other than that, I didn’t know much about politics.

A friend of mine in their 70’s admitted for a minor foot infection has now been in the hospital 2 weeks after the hospital forgot to give them their critical calcium meds for over a week & they deteriorated into delirium & now need rehab to get strength back.

MLK day is a great day to take stock of where we are (better than the country he lived in) & how far there is to go. It was also a great day to understand “they” haven’t, & won’t win if we have 1/10 of the courage of those heroes in the civil rights movement.
We have millions more than “them.”
