As with everything, there is nuance & industry-specific requirements here.

Very informative video - highly recommended watching it.
Got the Sunday video up early this time!

If you've been seeing news about "oh no there's a spike in farm bankruptcy"- it is NOT as simple as "farms go out of business & then investors buy them all."

hoooooo boy

last month, we spent 4 hours with Chad’s night crew.

it was worth every minute. here is just 6 of them.

give it a watch—because keeping watch is exactly what these crews do every single day for all
of us after dark.

🌱 Studying seeds is vital for work on restoring lost species to semi-natural UK grasslands

That is a (literally) unbelievable number of airframes, especially of the newest generation. I would love to see domestic production of much of it, but cannot believe such a high number, even spread across ten years.
The exact timeframe is obviously classified, but largely not dependent on mechanical requirements.
Seawater is used for oxygen, water supply for crew and reactor systems, and cooling primarily.
US submarines have essentially unlimited endurance.
Modern day submarines do. We use electrolysis to separate oxygen from seawater and, in emergency situations, use oxygen 'candles' to provide air.

Absolutely to seeing stuff!
This is incredible, thank you for sharing!

This framing of “legitimate discussions” on nuclear topics suggests that national security experts who work entirely with publicly accessible knowledge/data shouldn’t try to analyze what public info/tools rogue proliferators could potentially use.
what's interesting here is less that Anthropic put nuke guard rails on Claude and more HOW they did it. They deployed frontier models into a NNSA-controlled Top Secret Amazon server (yes, really) and America's nuclear admins try to make the chatbot help them build a nuke
Unserious: I whisper "sorry little guys" every time I clean a microscope slide.

Serious: We seriously undervalue the role of critical infrastructure as centers of community and outreach. I make it a goal to visit every water, wastewater plant every trip I take.

Scale comparison: Shahed drone, STING anti-Shahed drone, and human. To date, STING, developed by @wildhornets.bsky.social, has intercepted over 600 Russian aerial targets.
I am absolutely zero percent surprised.

If the nuclear community lost all its furries and weeaboos and... whatever this is, our national security would be seriously jeopardized.
Although not a significant point source, I was surprised to hear that only 48% of stations of had a wastewater treatment facility.
Even a basic settling process would be an improvement, microfilter+ ideal (although BNR might not work) but at least keep solids out of effluent.
Unknown MAR exceedance, source.
ROFL. My wife says that it's "weaponized incompetence" and that the "depths of my pillow inadequacies are immeasurable."
Thank you! I'll be at the Los Alamos No Kings Day! Proud of our country and we can, must do better.
Oh. my. god.

I miss Spanish style churros. I would have thought New Mexico would have SOME good churros but I've yet to find them. Maybe in ABQ?
