Matchmaking is a very strong force for pushing you towards a 50% win rate, and is essentially divorced from character power. It often has an opposite effect, where a really weak character will have a high winrate at top ranks, due to only being played by experts vs a really popular strong character

I didn't mention stuff like the hit/hurtboxes being auto generated so they feel very sloppy in game, and the developers using ranked winrates as a reason to buff/not buff a character.

One thing I really liked about Clair obscur was learning how the combat designer liked to fake out. It was like learning a fighting game matchup, the more I played the more I could first try parry a new enemy's string
