I'm used to working with low end materials when mini painting. We started with craft paint and cheap brushes. I can make them work. But I did get too used to pre-primed figures. This was SO hard. I wanted to put pumpkin lines on this, but the chances of me fucking it up was near 100%.

Ok, no one told me that painting #LPS would be so damn hard. These things actively reject paint. See those white marks on the chest and toes? Those are where the black paint ribbed off after drying. So I scrapped my original idea and just put more white on the chest to make it look purposeful.

It took me forever to see this movie, since the original House of Wax is one of my favorite movies... and I was against any remake of any Vincent Price movie (House on Haunted Hill got a pass, 'cause Jeffrey Rush). So I was shocked at how much I really enjoyed it when I finally did watch it.

Our friend the Spiny Slender Toad is a stream toad who lives throughout much of Borneo! They are in genus Ansonia, also known as Stream Toads, because they spawn in fast moving streams and have tadpoles adapted to life in fast-moving water! (photo by Carey Knox Southern Scales)

A slender, very spiny grey toad! They are darker on their back and fading to a lighter color on their belly! Many of their spines have a reddish tint! They are relaxing on a broad green leaf!

Hanging out in the artist lounge at #BLFC, I decided to try one of @unknownspy.bsky.social's #DressUpTober outfits. I had to improvise pn the shorts, since Crayola pencils were not up for that much green.

Our friend the Peru Stubfoot Toad is a critically endangered toad who lives in high elevations in the Andes of Peru! They are one of a few toads who are known to produce tetrodotoxin, the same kind of toxin found in pufferfish! (photo by Jörn Köhler)

An olive-green toad with a somewhat lumpy appearance, with a wide black band down their side! The black band is speckled with small yellow dots! They also have a yellow patch on their face and hind legs! They have small reddish areas on their feet!

This is the sort of thing I want to show all the "tracing is totally ok!" people. I've never seen these people never go into details on what sort of stuff is OK to copy, leaving young or beginning artists thinking tracing is totally acceptable and is never going to get them in trouble.
