#introduction

I’m currently a high school teacher who works with students with a wide range of disabilities and interests —

and coincidentally, that describes me as well

things I love include art, books, music, the outdoors, food, sudden mushrooms, slang, photography, and youthful energy
the cooking sacraments — boiling a pot of water, cutting up an onion and/or garlic
good thing about that one is that you can amend it for the circumstance w nuance

from “completely orgasmic to help” down to ”slightly begrudging”
i named my 3rd child after a character in a Pasolini film, and when we finally watched it together, 20 years in, the child was certainly scandalized!

indeed, it took about a week for them to fully digest how beautifully and intriguingly they’d been scandalized
"I think to scandalize is a right, to be scandalized is a pleasure, and those who refuse to be scandalized are moralists."

Pier Paolo Pasolini.

excited! I just spoke with the folks up at the zen center on the mountain nearby and they say they’ll be delighted to have my little comparative religion class visit next week

(I’ve never had students be so intrigued and focused on a topic as they have been about Buddhism; it’s been fascinating)
i wish that there were fewer podcasts and more writing being bandied about. i’m an exceptionally fast reader but i just don’t have the time to listen to everyone talking talking talking
my modest little good news post for you all is that my world history students are eating up learning about buddhism

they are fascinated! i’m a little fascinated by their fascination

one kid said the other day when leaving “whoa, I paid WAY MORE ATTENTION this class than I usually do!”
i’ve been wreaking knowledge in the classroom day after day, absolutely crushing it

i’m saying that like it’s a good thing

democrats apparently think it sounds disciplined to channel every speech act into a message about healthcare but it makes them seem moronic
miss him

and maddison, especially for the creative long pass
my youngest took a particular shine to a pharmacy employee when they were about 7 and decided that what he really needed was a hand-crocheted hat. he was gobsmacked, and deeply moved.

they then exchanged small gifts and cards for years!
and then there’s that play where you see the danger coming and you’re yelling no, no, NO

and then something spursy occurs 😔

reporter: can you reflect on-

mike johnson: I've never seen my reflection so I won't be commenting on this
this was a great read, the kind that leaves you feeling more energized and purposeful in its wake
after a clarinet player was arrested at Sunday's ICE protest in downtown Portland, I talked to five artists, crafters and makers - a puppet designer, an illustrator, a graphic designer, a knitter, and a theatre artist - about creativity under fascism

God: Any other requests?

Angel: Ooh! Do a cow in sunglasses, holding a cigarette!

God: No problem.

When the conflict expands in scale & scope, the good feelings help propel people to do hard things. Shitting on the public rallies is fucking dumb. It's also ahistorical and lacks any serious engagement with the history of social movement successes in the US. It's just trashy demobilization.
the activist combo of Kudus, Xavi, Odobert, and Tel are giving this ole spurs fan LIFE

has there been ANY mainstream media reaction to trump’s grotesque king-shitting-on-the-masses video?
