Also, there is no guarantee that the person doing the purchasing will spend the money on that specific thing!

If you don't know what to get and you just generally want to help, money is great. But if there's something particular you want to make sure people get, donate the items!

this hasn't really broken through to most people but the state of the games industry is *dire* right now.
I don’t talk about it much because the situation doesn’t really change but it’s still insane to me what an enormous amount of really talented game developers are out of work. just whole studios worth of incredible people, often people who worked on beloved games, unemployed.
I don't know very much about him, but I'd be delighted to see Pelosi gone.

If being against a guy with a Nazi tattoo makes me a purist I guess I'm an anti-Nazi purist. If you think that makes me an anti-Nazi single issue voter, you're wrong, but also it's a pretty good single issue.

There is more than a year. Go get another real progressive who doesn't have a Nazi tattoo.
It's kind of crazy that the political establishment hasn't managed to work it also.
One group that has mastered this somewhat are megachurch pastors who get caught doing something, and then tearfully confess to their congregation. They generally skip the "actually stop doing it" part, but it definitely works to diffuse the scandal and often leaves them more popular than before.

All right, looks like I got rid of all my posts/reposts, but to be clear:

I'd previously suggested people take a look at Graham Platner for the Senate seat in Maine.

Well, I think we've seen enough; I recommend *not* sending him money, endorsing him, or voting for him in the primary.
It always seems to boil down to "the bad people have all the money" doesn't it?
My primary criteria for supporting political candidates are: not a nazi, a sex offender, a spineless fascism-enabler, or actively supporting a genocide. Why the FUCK is it so hard to find people who pass these, it seems like a pretty goddamn low bar to me!
Dude is immune to parody these days, because everything he actually says is more batshit than any parody could ever be.

Does anyone listen to this guy and actually think he is sane?
Being surrounded by thousands of my neighbors who are showing that they, too, are worried and angry is very powerful. It gives me more confidence that we can band together and defend our community. If I thought I was alone in caring, I would not try.
Please tell me your secret to managing it, I'm so goddamn tired

This is the ideal male body. Interestingly, it's also the ideal female body. And it is both at the same time, in circular orgies called mating chains.

Ah, the classic protest slogans on the background signs: "DANCL CHANGE", "Ber Wins" and "Love Wat". Truly inspiring.

Also the mood of the real protests was less "peace & joy" and more "don't make us have to build a guillotine, you motherfuckers"
My partner has a degree, extensive job history in a field he's passionate about, glowing references, everyone who looks at his resume says it's impressive.... and has been looking for work for a year and a half.
People also seriously underestimate the value of pure peer pressure. Seeing someone stand up and object, even in as small a way as waving a sign around, dramatically increases the chances that others will feel empowered to make a stand as well.

Meanwhile follow Bluesky philosophy: block often, block liberally. At the first sign of assholery, be it right wing whining, transphobia, scam, spam, or any other kind - do not engage. Just block them into oblivion, and make motherfuckers scream into the void.

Also remember: trolls make money off of your interactions. They monetize that shit. Block them and drive them into penury.
Block fascists. There's no reasoning or arguing with them, you might as well debate with spoiled leftovers. Don't let them bait you. Block fast, block often, block fascists. Let their accounts mummify.

i imagine there’s about to be an influx of MAGA chuds spewing their bullshit but i really can’t stress enough that if we don’t give them oxygen, they’ll get bored and leave. block early and often.
i know the desire to fight with these sick freaks is strong but resist the urge and just block. it’s better for your brain.
