I finally watch Nosferatu. Man was is visually striking and unsettling. Like a mix of Bram Stoker's Dracula and the original Nosferatu, but without audience connection. I'm glad I saw it, but I dont think I'll watch it again.

My new years resolution is pretty boring. Its to achieve stability in either health or money or both. Both would be awesome, but realistically ... Trying to "phoenix" myself during this time has proved to be quite difficult. I'm closer to a flopping smoldering chicken.

Looking back at this year, it was mostly horrible. Between hospital visits, various constant bad news, and losing my little buddy Loki, I am super glad this year is over.
Here is to hoping the next year is better.

What is silly is that I dont like writing and I think I suck at it, but here I am, still doing it. I started writing my one on-going TTRPG adventure about Yokai back in 2018. For someone who identifies as not a writer, that's pretty crazy.

I do not recommend running a ttrpg game for 7 people when you have a fever.

I did actually make a limited edition mug this year despite my new website not being quite done. Last year it was my prancing pony with a wreath, this year its an elk that got caught in holiday lights. I wonder what I should do for next year. Cardinals maybe?

This actually happened in gamedev with Supercell, they started w/ ~15 or so projects simultaneously, tested them all, found resounding success with Clash Royale, immediately canned the rest of the projects. They had the $$ to fund all the projects and testing; no indie can compete w/ that :(
I'm starting to really believe that the only way to get a runaway success is for companies to fund like 20 new projects, 19 of them will either fail or make no impression, and then the 20th will resonate with audiences and create tons of merch opportunities like Bluey or KPop Demon Hunters

Micron seems to be betting everything on a hype wave (AI bubble) that will not last for some fast cash. When businesses and individuals cannot afford RAM for computers down the line, assuming a recession is inbound (which signs point to yes*) this could be really bad.

Instead of explaining all the complicated things of "now" I told my boomer mom that she grew up without internet and so she must go back to that frame of thinking since the internet is much less safe for her now. "Don't click on anything, no Ads, nothing. Except Netflix." I dont think she will 1/2

In CA you can get your first driver's license for on average $200 CAD.
In MD to get your first driver's license its about $600 dollars total. (this does not include costs for a car, insurance etc) Privatizing the mandatory schooling is costing new drivers $400+ MORE money. How is this okay?
